CrunchBerries’Probiotic SIP Thread

Yeah, I’m hoping mag and calcium issues are just PH related and once it gets in range things start moving. The Royal already looks much better less than a week since adding the dolomite so hopefully the sour gets moving. The tacoing leaves are really throwing me for a loop. The fact that even lower leaves are doing that leads me to believe it is not heat/light that is the issue.

What do you think @CrunchBerries ?

I’ve found that after you transplant to sips that they can take a bit to get adjusted. Many times I will LIGHTLY topwater in a tonic of like TM7 or Big6, coconut, aloe, silica, to help with the transition. I stress lightly because your plants are already going to adjust to the new environment and sitting with really wet feet from the jump makes them even more unhappy.

Based on the evidence you’ve provided I’d say that issues are stemming from the PH. I add 1 cup of OSF per cubic foot of soil. So in an EB you would use less than 2 cups. I pack my wicks, add a layer of soil, then add -2cups OSF, then another layer of soil. I do this so there are varying PH levels throughout. Em1’s ph is roughly 4 if I remember correctly, so the bottom layer is more acidic, the top is more basic with the middle being neutral. Plants uptake certain nutrients at varying ph levels, so they take what they want when they want. Here is my section on how I set up an EB

You also may want to ask in the Sick Plants section. Good luck homie!

@CrunchBerries wha gwan

I was looking at your EB setup and wondered do you cover the lasagna layer with soil or is that EWC?

I do the standard malted barley, ewc, kashi and cover with the plastic much.

Thanks @CrunchBerries! This one is a head scratcher. I am definitely going to incorporate your practices of letting the earthbox sit for a few weeks after mixing it up. I’m also going to do my first layer when I initially set it up. Also, you fill your reservoir when you initially set it up? Is this to give the soil a chance to get going and let your OSF start to break down and begin buffering PH along with all getting the biology moving?

I appreciate all the breadcrumbs you’ve left behind. :facepunch:t3:

I layer soil, OSF, then more soil to fill up the EB. My topdress consists of Barley, Crustacean meal, Insect Frass, Bu’s compost, EWC and kashi.

Pics appear to be a lasagna layer being covered. Am I that high?

You got it! Lasagna is always better after its had a chance to sit for a day before baking. Same case here. I want the life to get moving ,things to start breaking down, and those fungal-bacterial connections to begin.

Ha! Sorry! That is EWC. Just haven’t put the kashi on.

I saw this on Reddit and thought it was cool and ballsy to make a massive custom DIY sip the size of a garden bed. I bet you only have to fill that thing once a month in Veg lol .

One of these days, I’ll pull this out of the tent for full plant pics…SIPs only in my flower tent from now on! Very easy going way to grow.

Nice @unomas !She’s looking to get some fade! I need to give Black Triangle a go! Have you read this BT grow log? Super nice write up and very entertaining. Can’t remember which company this dude is from, but the resultant seeds were freebies a while back.

Yessir! I might have to reread that thread. I ended up with those F2’s before I was able to get a pack of F1’s…The plant I’ve been posting is an F1.

The sole F2 I grew was pretty nice! It had this lemony/pine smell and taste.

I skimmed it. Interesting he had a harder time getting the bodhi to sprout. I thought it was just me. But the flower looks fire as does most all of Bodhi’s work I’ve seen.

Live Blitzkrieg Update! Day 52F No smells currently, as I have a cold. Kinda wished I had added that third topdress per usual. I’m noticing some of the lowers are shriveling and dying. Looks to be from over watering, so I’ve changed up my watering to be less frequent. No signs of pests! Thinking I’ll run clones of BRs, SDG x SSDD, SS4 lemon pheno and the unrun C cut next round to keep life light. Maybe a Sun Ra cut?@BeagleZ Baby CrunchBerries is due in early February!!
