I’ve only used mason jars but would like to up my game. I’ve heard about metal jars and then lids with meters on them and now grove bags. Trying to make sense of it all.
Going to be hang drying then curing until I ball out for a Cannatrol and then I guess I can go straight to grove bags.
Until then, what’s a good solution for me when I’ll be curing 2-3 plants per cycle. Thank you.
I use quart (liter) sized brown glass canning jars (wide mouth).
Now, the ‘cool kids’ are 3D printing the flat lid (adding a rectangular hole) and fitting those small RH/temp units into the hole to monitor the contents.
Another excuse for using the canning jars is now you can get a widget that will vacuum seal them. It’s not a real vacuum, probably only 1/2 but it does remove a significant amount of air.
I haven’t come to a conclusion whether this approach helps or not though…
Man I am crusty old school I guess. Slow slow dry after chop. Once the outer leaves start to get a lil crispy, break down into fresh brown paper bags. Those go into totes. Adding a rh meter in there would be high tech for me🤣
From the bags, they get the final hand manicure. If still a lil wet, back into the bags. If not, into glass. Them burp every day for as long as I can stand.
When I read about the Cannatrol my mind was blown. Maybe I’ll get to compare one day. 1600$ is steep when I’m just making myself meds and the traditional way makes dank🤷🏼♂️
Brown paper lunch bags is the way I did it too many moons ago. Graduated to mason jars. This year’s I am hopeful I will need tons of mason jars. Hence the thought of those plastic jars. Con always go back to old school paper lunch bags… if they even sell them anymore. HA!
I can second the brown paper bags. After hanging to dry for 10- 14 days then into the bags. You have to leave a little air at the top. A couple more weeks in the bags depending on the strain and the Rh and then they get vacum sealed.
Moisture will hit 99% in a closed mason jar as well. If your burping the jars/plastic and you dryed them right there’s no issue using them. They just don’t breathe like Grove bags, but neither do Mason jars
I use them all the time now. I find new jars tend to hold their seals fine but have had a couple used jars lose their seals over time. This is the latest one Amazon sent me. There is a video. On the page that shows a great visual. They fill a jar with marshmallows and show the vacuum pressure visually. You did teach me not to put in and bovida packs though. Sorry again about that bud. I had never thought of it. In the end, lack of oxygen keeps stuff fresh longer IMO.
