Dark Sparks with Mr.Sparkle : Growing 2019

Thanks for the welcome, Unlike our friend Mr. Sparkle i don’t Build things i just like to enjoy the fun of growing. So i have a basic tent setup. Mr Sparkle is always bringing new things for us and thats why i like to follow his threads. Do you have a thread going?

@Mr.Sparkle I just bought some coco and gonna try that as i always planted with soil. As for seedlings do you feed from day 1? or is plain water for a few days then add nutes? and to my understanding you never let coco dry out so do you water every day or every 2?

Watering depends more on your environment and grow setup early on. Like how hot or cold it is, how big of pots you’re using, humidity, starting level water hydration, media particle size aka chunky coco vs regular, it all factors into it.

Myself if i was running regular coco in my size pots and environment a may have to water once or twice in the first week, but its more on what i think the plant needs, which i lost touch of as of late.

As for feeding, yeah i do but at lower levels as really your only taking a couple days if they are growing fast before they are hunting for nutrients.

Coco isn’t that different than say peat based mixes, in when they dry they don’t hold as much water till they are rehydrated a little, but even soil you don’t want to let go dry.

My watering frequencies change as the plants require it but thats in my environment or the changes i throw at them.

@cannabissequoia

had some time .

Fine is just that fine particles over a chunky bottom just to prevent the finer stuff from washing out, the plug is 1" wide plug of fine stuff all the way to the bottom with chunky stuff around it, and the chunky is well chunky, also have 3 seeds with small tails now so another day or so and they can be transplanted.

That’s an elegant solution there. I’ve been doing regular coco with ~25% chunky stuff and loving it…I think using them together is where its at!

Let’s see if I put :boot: + :open_mouth: = or if the resulting roots show a pattern of sorts.

Thanks for doing that.

Well back to an update Day 0 and Day 9 for the two that are left.

Chunky stuff from the get go just doesn’t cut it.

So trying out a few things here, gonna try the center plug of finer coco and also another with just the bottom layer being the chunky stuff but was done more for limiting particle runoff as the holes in these pots are bit bigger than i would like.

The dark stuff on the right is some Canna coco that i picked up yesterday, so back with it again lol. the stuff on the right is stuff i blended and filtered later last week so same for them plug and also a finer fill with the chunky bottom, so essentially in this pic just mirrored between the stuff i made or the canna coco.

Will say this three cotyledon thing is displaying as quite common but has just transition to normal two sided growth afterwards, i had two more show but one got injured though.

Not common at all but considering these seeds are showing tri’s quite common doesn’t surprise me.

Oh well, guess we will see how it grows out or if these seeds are just unstable weirdo into the compost they can go, or I guess to learn from which was there original intent…

I have no issue with the multi leafs. I am showing the pictures because I think it’s cool. They seem to snap out of it quickly. I am very grateful for your generosity. And I will grow every single one of these until harvest.
