Daylight savings time

Every year I see or hear growers worrying about what to do with daylight savings time in terms of the grow setup… basically don’t worry about it haha. 1 hour of extra dark or extra light during the flowering cycle won’t affect anything and especially during veg. So if your lights come on at 8:00 a.m. for the flowering cycle then just keep it that way and allow them to have one less hour of light for tomorrow. I’ve been using Bluetooth plugs for everything since 2019 and they will obviously update themselves tomorrow so my plants will have one hour less of light end of story.

I don’t change mine- They were coming on at 8:30, now it’s 7:30 … no difference for the plants

where does the extra hour come from? last time i checked it was the same day, number of hours, and amount of daylight. the only thing that changed is what time we called it. unless it’s electronic, nothing changes at all if you don’t set the timers back and i don’t see why you would. with electronics, most of them today, you can disable daylight savings switches. i just read about that on my camera. thanx for the sidetrack in thought.

Haha well there might be some people using old school timers that don’t automatically adjust and in general I’ve seen way too many new growers worry ab an extra hour of darkness or light depending upon the season. Instead of trying to change your light/dark cycles based on actual plant time in the grow tent, just let it have that extra hour of dark this morning instead of turning lights on at 7am bc technically 12 hours passed since the 8pm turnoff

Living in Arizona until last year, I didn’t realize how much I hate the changing of the clocks…

I use the clockwork heavy duty timers- the plants don’t have a clock so they don’t know about the time … as far as they’re concerned nothing changed
