well, I had 2 experiences with them in the last few months, first one was average, 2nd was below average, and they sorta mirror a couple of the other ones here.
first ever order: promptly paid (enough for the free shipping)…promptly shipped…made it to Colorado, then the tracking just disappeared…for a week, and then on the 10th day I reached out, Paul said he’d make it right regardless, then they showed up about 4 days later, with the only scan after CO being the one for putting it in the box… no Seattle, no Anchorage scans… (I live in Alaska, but most shipping times are 5-7 business days tops, even from the east coast)…anyhow, it showed up, 2+ weeks after being shipped, USPS’ “fault”, no big dealio.
second order was a bit more in depth. literally spent about 3 hours (if not longer) going thru the site, and winnowing my picks to 5 packs, at what came out to a little over 2 bills after the July 4 discount.
I’m a terp hunter, in terms of variety.
over the last 15+ years, have about 50 strains on hand at any given time (and have had some that entire timeframe), with minimal repeats, or, there’s 1 apple (Fritter, Lumpy’s cut), 2 gmo strains (Stinkz, Garlic Icing), 1 grape (Blackwater) 2 orange (Orange Octane, one I bred I call C4, which is rotten ripe tangerines mixed with good hoo-ha {think:musky)), 2 blueberry (Blue Dream Haze, Blueberry Cheese), 1 cantaloupe (MAC, Caps cut), 2 Banana (Banana Punch, and BP X Durban Poison), 1 ‘spice rack’ (straight Durban Poison), etc…
the point is the amount of time that was spent to add new flavors to the inventory, versus just quickly ‘grabbing some packs because of a sale’.
paid for on July 3 (Thursday), and of COURSE, with the long holiday weekend, I wasn’t expecting any ‘shipped’ emails or anything to go out probably until Tuesday at the earliest.
I also wasn’t expecting to hear nothing at all until the following Thursday (late at night), a full week later, when an email came through from Merry, saying that one of my selections (“Box Of Chocolates”) was not in stock due to an “inventory error” (???), and would I like something else/she’d send some freebies???
so I waited a day or so, collected my thoughts, and reached out to Paul…I was courteous, and detailed, basically explaining what I stated above.
he got back to my promptly, saying he was away for a few weeks, just got back, and thought Merry could handle the sale weekend, etc…and he pretty much agreed with the issues I raised
my issues were simple:
the FAQ’s state that orders paid go out the next business day…again, I’m reasonable, holiday weekend, expectations were Tuesday at the earliest when ordered the prior Thursday
instead, a full 7 days after the order was placed, I finally get a message that one of the packs I ordered was no longer available? but if I’d like to pick a sub, they’ll go right out to me?
really?
had I gotten that email on the 5th…or the 6th…or the 7th…or maybe even the 8th…sure, ok…but a full week+ later, for that to be the initial correspondence about my order?
seriously?
the thought of a Chocolope x a Cherry Coconut mix was too good to pass up…don’t have a chocolate strain, don’t have a coconut strain…
anyhow, I summed it up with:
“to wait a week to inform a customer an item is out of stock is unacceptable, especially when I watched the “in stock” counter decrease during that week of waiting” (I believe the counter was at “8 in stock”, when I ordered)
to not have my order on the way by this point (July 10) directly contradicts what is stated in your FAQ’s, and I don’t understand, at all, why I was basically forgotten, if not ignored.
as for picking another pack, the only two things crossed with Chocolope of interest were a lemon strain, and a vanilla strain, two flavors, that I’m not into, at all.
rest of the Chocolope crosses were like 1-sentence descriptions…and the pictures were just kinda ‘meh’.
as for the Cherry Coconut crosses…the only two that looked somewhat interesting were the Cherry Gorilla and the Cherry Colada…that said, I already have my fave GG cross (Gorilla Glue x Sunset Sherbet, one of the most unique musk-profiles I’ve ever smelled, I can’t even describe it, only 16% THC but tested at over 6% terps), and the Colada version just doesn’t pull me in with how it’s described.
I even went looking for other breeders to try and find something, to no avail (another 90 min wasted).
so, I basically said “partial refund on the missing pack” ($44.25 sale price, or cancel the whole order at this point, I don’t really care), and don’t really want any random freebies, as I don’t care for fem (I’ll grow 'em, but not by choice), and I truly find autos to be utter trash (which is what 80% of freebies are, auto or fem)…so random freebies are probably going in a drawer never to be seen again.
take my meager 34 points and give them to a veteran in need, as you’ve pretty much lost a potential long time customer with the lack of prompt attention given to my order.
do I believe Paul/Merry are good people/DCSE is a good outfit, and 95% of what I read in this thread?
yes, I do.
that said, sadly, based on this 2nd experience, they’re just not a good fit for me.
the rest of my order went out Saturday (!!!), and is supposed to be here tomorrow, and that is pretty much that.
I will probably reach out to him one more time after this order arrives with one remote way that he could possibly ‘make it right’, but I’m really not expecting it to happen.
anyhow, there’s my 50 cents…in pennies…unrolled.
