Diary: Growing comercial seed banks (Ocean Spray F1 - Black Tuna)

What’s up, guys?
I’m a new user on OG, and some good friends and growers from Brazil suggested this community to me. Now, I’m pretty excited to be here!

Everything here is new to me—so many topics, tons of cool features on the site that I need to explore, breeder discussions… But okay, where should I start? Maybe a growing diary? Yeah, sounds like a plan…

I’ve been a grower for two years, so I still consider myself a beginner. That said, I’ve already studied a lot about cannabis, so I have good theoretical knowledge, but I still lack the hands-on experience to call myself an “expert”. Right now, my biggest challenge is finding good genetics.

Speaking of Brazil, weed here is not legal and is still a huge taboo, not to mention the risks involved in being a grower. Because of that, it’s hard to access reliable information, quality equipment, and, most importantly, good genetics. Most of the time, we only have access to commercial seed brands—high prices, but nothing really surprising.

Luckily, a solid grower scene is emerging in Brazil, and a lot of experienced growers are starting to share their knowledge and help new growers like me. That’s how I found @FPunk, who, for me, is one of the most important voices when it comes to genetics—my main motivation to be part of this community.

Current Run :seedling:

My main focus now is finding top-tier genetics. I was looking into commercial brands, and one specific strain caught my attention:
:ocean: Ocean Spray F1 - Black Tuna (Tropicana Punch x Sherbet Shocker).

This run has already started, and I’m currently in week 6 of flowering. My first impression: these plants are way more nutrient-sensitive than I’m used to. Even with a light dose of fertilizer, they grow EXTREMELY fast and were already huge with only 4 weeks of vegetative stage (seed to flower).

I’m running five seeds, and now at the end of week 6 of flower, three plants have stopped stretching and are just about to start full flowering, while the other two are much more advanced.

I don’t have temperature control, and now, in the summer, it’s insanely hot with high humidity most of the time. Not exactly ideal conditions for flowering, but I’m staying positive!

How about you? Which comercial seed bank are you running now? Is it surprising for you

Hello bro, is everything ok?? Very angry guy and your diary is well written, it caught my attention because I’m also carrying one of the black tuna here in mine and I wanted to open a diary that way.

Bro, do you want to take some photos so we can see this beauty?

Salve mano, tudo tranquilo?? Cara muito irado e bem escrito seu diário, me chamou atenção por que também estou levando uma da black tuna aqui no meu e queria abrir um diário dessa maneira.

Mano, pretende botar umas fotos para podermos ver essa belezura?

I am running some Figz Newton, also by Back tuna, along with two others: power plant by dutch passion and Waching Machine by Ripper. The ones from back tuna are the fastest.
