Diet Peps’ Pipe Dreams

Response that got a little long on another thread:

When I think about Bodhi packs, I first think the father. I don’t think anyone knows the actual “born on” date for Bodhi’s lines because he keeps things in his fridge, tests them, and does multiple pollinations with the same fathers… so I try to generalize how old the lines are.

At this point, even properly stored Appalachia and Snow Lotus beans are reaching the limits of their viability. They are reaching the stage that if they don’t pop now, the germ rates will be so low that their value would be pretty low. Maybe a shot at germination, but I wouldn’t buy SL or Appy beans at this point. Nor would I sell them!!! We poppin those bad boys!!

Any 88g13hp and wookie beans, on the other hand, should still pop. If they don’t, they’ve had a hard life. Don’t want to do too much pulling out of the fridge and putting back in, but generally these beans should pop >=80%. At this point, if I received them, they would go in a cool, dark, safe place (my safe). They still have value, as they generally pop. Most of these beans can wait a few years to preserve, at this point in 2025.

I’m not as sure about the other fathers. I believe the SSDD father was before 88g13hp, but I also suspect he pulled out another ssdd male and did another pollination later. I really don’t know though. I would pop those beans. Again, I wouldn’t feel right selling them.

The OMG male is really tricky. Word is that OMG was used in Dread Bread, which is the very first supernatural selection. That makes those crosses potentially very old. Some omg crosses didn’t show up until a lot later, maybe because of a second pollination, or maybe they have been hanging out. I would pop those seeds.

So, anecdotal memories are a big part of answering your question. Thought provoking question to start the day! I’m definitely available to chat here or by dm if you want to talk more about this stuff.
