Do you use a electric timer for your lights

Anyone use a timer thinking about picking a couple up on eBay since I have 2 tents

Buy a smart plug. Timers always malfunctioned for me.

i recently bought this one but haven’t used it yet. i still have one very similar to this that has lasted 10 years but i don’t know about this one. my only complaint is switching it during daylight savings time, i just never bothered to figure it out.

I tried a digital timer years ago it gave me problems and so did the one that replaced it. I have stuck to the simple mechanical timer since and have been problem free .

I think you can’t go wrong with the mechanical timers like the ones you choose. :call_me_hand:

One thing about the Mech timers is if you are trying to synch it with other timers it is best to count the little plastic pieces instead of going by the numbers on the timers. Going by the numbers I have found can still be off by one or two plastic pieces.

yeah, i received a mechanical timer with an order i made and i haven’t opened it or tried to figure it out, i like the digital so decided to stick with it.

Are you manually turning lights on and off now @anon98660487 ?

Well I have lights plug into power strips on each tent, but I’ve been busy and forgot to turn the lights on in my big tent the other day…

Going to have to stop smoking durning the day forgetting everything lol

a timer will definitely remove all the trouble of doing that

Yes, currently using one that’s a powerstrip with a mechanical timer built in. Have had nothing but problems with digital timers…but I’ve been told I could I could fuck up a wet dream

Another vote for mechanical. I had a digital one on a strip that I ended up bypassing with a mechanical.

If your not into smart timers, go mechanical. The digitals have too many possible points of failure. Digitals are the only ones I’ve had issues with, generally after the battery inside dies, I’ve had 1 that had it’s internal fuse blow out and die too.

I’ve used timers (mechanical) for years without a single problem. Until this grow where 2 of them have been screwing me repeatedly. I’ve been plugging the light in manually for the past few days.

The smart plugs are neat but not worth letting Alexa into my world over.

Think I’m going to buy this one looks pretty handy
You can have 4 plugs on the timer side 6ft cord as well most of them only have 4ft cords

Baked reading up on power strips such an exciting life I have at 5.30am.
Smoke that sweet tooth weed I grew kept me up all night

I have both; mainly out of convienince of getting them… aka the electronic ones were on sale.

My rule is “mechanical for important, digital for houseplants”. The power in my area has occasional drop outs so all electronically controlled timers here in my home cannot be trusted as they require a reset (mine do not have batteries).

I’m still looking for a mechanical timer that has multiple outlets where each can have a different setting; but this is prob to steampunk to be real.
