Do you use yeast in flower?

Hey Overgrow family hope everyone is sufficiently stoned and off to a fine start today.

I came across some interesting info early before the sun was up and wanted to share it here on Overgrow.

Curious if anyone here is familiar with using yeasts during the transition to flower or if you are currently or in the past have used a product that has yeast in it to help increase growth during key stages I’m interested in hearing your input.

The company below touts some pretty impressive numbers for increasing flower weight at harvest compared to controls.

Heres a few pics of the page and a link if anyone has time for rabbit holes today.

Absolutely, I was throughly intrigued when I stumbled onto the page. When I have more free time available this evening I will be taking a deep dive on the subject and sharing my findings

Wetting agent with added protein and yeast. Wonder if cocowet against a plant without a wetting agent would be similar. :person_shrugging:t6:

Edit: I don’t trust the science used to sell products. So many bottles that claim to increase or improve.

There is yeast in EM1 and I’ve seen great results spraying the foliage and soil with this beneficial combination of microbes (yeast, photosynthetic bacteria, and lactic acid)

Now I usually just use lactobacillus since you can DIY at home … rice wash water, then add to to milk 1:10 water:milk, let sit for a few days on top of the fridge. Eat the curds or feed to a dog then use the serum under the cheese for application, 1:25 lacto:dechlorinated water or more.

I agree, was takin back a bit by the numbers they are claiming at harvest. Always cautious when it comes to the testing these companies have done to prove the products effectiveness.

That said im very interested in the use of yeast along with complex sugars and surfactants for the transition phase. Feel like it really wouldn’t take much to get things moving forward quickly.

Surfactants and saponins are a staple in my garden they really help the plants with certain stressors.
I like to use a 40% mono silic acid in the rez and typically will foliar with yucca early on before flower to help with dry back stress etc.

Ohhh now that sounds like something I should have on hand.

Thank you @CapnCannabis for sharing this awesome tidbit.

Yes! Lacto for the win. I’ll be honest I have been slacking in this department. Need to make a small batch and treat before flower is totally set.

I sleep better at night knowing that pm will have a much more difficult time getting established when Lacto is present in the mix.

Along with the slew of other benefits that come with it :raised_hands::sunglasses:

This is a great find!

I’m sure many of us have some old baking, nutritional or brewer’s yeast laying around in the panty somewhere. I certainly do. Instead of going straight to the trash/compost pile, why not feed the plants with it?

Okay over time I will be adding as much information as I can find around this topic.

Have dug up a few items to go over and will try to familiarize myself with the material as its posted.

I will try to focus on source material, alot of it will be dry but the devil’s in the details.

Have a vision in my head of building a library of sorts that we can use to find what strains work best in different geographical locations, as well as Improving different functions in the plant

As well as suppliers to source different strains from.

Been known to use spirulina and kombucha in the garden. Used yeast once but that was me trying to grow fungus and it failed. LABS and KNF ferments work well cause the plants respect the effort.

Peace

Definitely worth diving into, thanks for sharing this information :slightly_smiling_face:

Ive been using yeast as an organic bloom boost for at least a decade now. It really is a nice flower boost with a couple other sugar sources. I just use dry active yeast from the grocery store. I also add raw sugar and molasses, as others have mentioned. In all honestly I just loved FloraNectar from GH, and figured out I could buy the ingredients a ton cheaper.

Recipe or just a pinch of this and that.
@shag had a ton of DIY for growers. We can make most stuff much cheaper than the bottle version.

Yep

Been using yeast for a long time, increases root growth and binds N and P

Nutritional yeast also works, can mix dry into soil or preactivate and feed. I use either baking yeast or brewers yeast mostly, cheaper in bulk.

Sometimes I also gather (and expand) wild yeast from apple or grape

What next ? magic dust to sprinkle on plants for a 1 month harvest time from date of planting. (have some if anyone is interested - but I can’t tell you how I obtained it A[quote=“Adventuretime86, post:1, topic:173074, full:true”]
