I didn’t notice any sorta lingering incense smells after blazing it last night, but I also forgot to see if I notice it haha. I think my girl might’ve mentioned it if it had, though, and she didn’t, so…

I like the BAH more, but because I have a lot of those seeds I’m kind of more interested in the Lavender Jack. The flavor of the LJ destroys the flavor of the BAH; it tastes so fucking good, but I like the high of the BAH even more than I like the high of the LJ. And I really like the high of the LJ haha. That Church BAH reminds me sooooo much of my three favorites from when I grew them, it’s pretty much identical, really. Which is a good thing haha.

Anyway, I’ll write the smoke report now. Honestly, I could probably just copy and paste the one I wrote for the BAH that I grew haha.

Okay, Bandaid Haze “Church” smoke report:

Looks:

Those are all the same nugs, I just got a decent few pictures of them so I posted them all haha. I like that tiny plate and the book cover I used for the background, think I’m gonna start using those for the pics instead of the mason jar lids that I usually use.

I should also mention that I got two samples of this one, one grown in soil and the other in coco. The one I’m writing about now was the soil-grown version.

Smell: I hate to say it, but, uh, spicy/plastic. There’s also a sort of “musty leather” thing going on, but I really had to get my nose in the nugs to pick it up. I thought I might’ve also noticed a little bit of pine, but I’m not sure.

Taste: not much. Definitely the lowlight of this strain, but it’s not a big deal. Like I’ve said before, I don’t think anybody’s smoking Bandaid Haze for the flavor haha.

High: Fucking excellent. Totally reminds me of the three BAH’s I grew that I really liked. Very, very stony, very giggly, very laid back, very happy high. There was the usual ten minute mini-rush where I did get slightly uncomfortable about twenty minutes after blazing her, but being relatively familiar with the BAH by now, I knew it would wear off quickly. After that, it was just good times. I found myself laughing quite a bit at things that apparently weren’t all that funny, just judging from the fact that my girl was not laughing along with me haha.

Huge munchies with this one, too, just like the ones I grew. I cooked turkey chili last night and ate a bowl on a bed of rice and wilted spinach (sounds weird, but it’s actually very good), then had a bowl of cereal for dessert. Then I ate some leftover Halloween candy. Then I ate like four peanut butter Oreos. Then I ate another bowl of turkey chili and some tortilla chips haha. But even after all that food, I was still very high. Great legs on this one for sure. I was pretty dang baked almost three hours and, like, five meals later haha. I think that might be the biggest difference between this Church pheno and both the ones that I grew and the #7 BAH that I sampled, is the length of the high. This Church one is definitely more enjoyable and more fun than that #7 and the high lasts longer, too.

It also killed the urge to drink, which is a good thing. I drank a decent amount yesterday afternoon and probably would’ve kept drinking until I went to bed, but after I blazed this one I didn’t drink any more alcohol at all. I just ATE haha.

Anyway, yeah, great weed for sure. I’m really, really glad I still have a lot of these seeds, probably gonna take cuts the next time I grow some and maybe keep a mom around for a while, because this is definitely the kind of weed I want to have access to all the time. I dunno if it’s something I’d smoke every day, just because of the insane munchies, but I don’t ever want there to be a time when I’m like,“Dang, man, I really feel like smoking some BAH. But I don’t have any…” haha.

Thanks for this sample, Mr. Mystery Man. This is a good one for sure.

I may be getting a LJ cutting sometime from a mystery benefactor at some point so I’m really excited to read that!

That bowl / plate you used for the images looks awesome as a background for the nug pictures.

It’s happening!

Yeah, the Lavender Jack smells pretty great and tastes amazing, too. And the smell carries over to the flavor, love it when that happens, been a while since I smoked something that tastes almost exactly the way it smells. Lots of stuff going on with that one and it seems pretty easy to pick out each distinct note or whatever. It’s very good.

I’ll write that report soon. I’ve just been apprehensive about smoking it haha, kinda been “saving” it, just because I like it so much. I don’t wanna run out of it! Haha.

Haha, yeah, it’s gonna happen. I’m gonna take cuts of the stuff I’m growing now, just waiting to sex them. So far I’m pretty sure I’ve found four males, but I haven’t trashed anything yet, gonna try to will everything to turn out female.

Even IF some of them are very clearly male right now haha.

Thanks for the notes. If you don’t mind, I’m going to compare and contrast with my own notes from growing out the same cut of Giesel.

After growing Giesel in spring of 2023, I harvested one good sized organic dirt plant in June 2023. Still a couple full 1/2gal jars left. I don’t reach for them often, but maybe I should. I did last night and it was pleasant.

Here’s a couple pics close to harvest:

And the cured nug pics after harvesting at day 70F (10 weeks from flip). These have been in jars for 4 full months:

The cure’s been going pretty well. 60-65F temps, 60%ish humidity.

My Smell & Flavor notes: After harvest and the first week of drying, the smell started out as lemon and stonefruit with a tiny back end of tennis balls, but after the second week of drying, the smell started to recede. A few months in jars at 60/60% she’s lost the lemon and tennis balls, now mostly stonefruit and low odor until ground. Flavor is a little unusual, kinda sour plum weed flavor, slightly mouth coating with a nod towards chem 91 skva, which I also harvested at the same time.

My Potency & Effects notes: I’ve come around to this one in the months since harvest. The potency is better than bunktek sour d - still not strong, a 5/10 or 6/10 for me - but the effect is pleasant and lasts much longer than sour d. Relaxed, comfortable high that feels pretty 30/70 head/body. Smoke it in the morning and it makes your eyes heavy. Don’t plan on doing much, but if you do, it’s functional and enjoyable. At night it’s the kind of thing for me that I forget about being stoned and just enjoy winding down without being completely couchlocked, and then a couple hours later the munchies set in.

My Looks notes: Small nuggy OGish buds with some foxytails in my setup, cookies size but not nearly as dense. Easy trim. Fairly frosty. Decent bag appeal. Big calyxes/bracts. Didn’t shrink like a lot of weed when you dry it. Kinda styrofoam in that respect. After a 4mo cure, grinds up well and sorta coarse, perfectly consistency for joints. Burns well but with a grayish ash despite sharing a pot of organic recycled dirt with another cut.

My Growth notes: Prolly the best thing about Giesel IMHO is she’s a grower. Vigorous, roots well and grows fast with good node spacing. She’s a little lanky after flip, but nothing crazy. Solid stems but can get her sway on in late flower if she doesn’t have support. Roots are aggressive and will grow up and out of the soil if she gets rootbound. Doesn’t need much veg time before flip - when grown well, she will take over whatever pot and footprint you have her in. Likes hard pruning and erupts in flower with a ton of branching and suckers, so make sure to lollipop her well. Not a show-er, she puts on most of her weight in the first half of flower. Harvest window is 10ish-11 weeks.

Overall, we’re all in agreement - decent, not great. Good for perspective on the old “elites.” Like @iamyou_youareme suggested, might be better in crosses.

P.S. Curious to read your other upcoming smoke reports!

Yeah, I think the most telling thing about that Geisel is that I haven’t really thought about it (or blazed it) since I wrote the smoke report. It’s for sure not on the same level as the BAH or even the Lavender Jack. Or the Mother’s Milk. Or the Blue Dream haha.

I got a soil-grown and a coco-grown sample of that one, but y’all’s lack of enthusiasm for it has really dampened mine haha. I haven’t tried either of them yet, but I will. I do think that that “Bunktek” nickname is funny, though.

Check this out:

Those are straight-up male flowers, right? Definitely not pre-flowers, I don’t think. The second pic is one of the Zaps and the first pic is that Wat Pho with the freak fan leaf, which kind of blows. I really wanted to see that one flowered. I’m not too sure what that’s about, though, with what looks like full-on male flowers on those two plants.

One of your Cheese/Haze is also showing male, @HolyAngel, but just normal male pre-flowers, nothing like those sacs on the other two plants. And one of the Triple Goddesses (which I just realized I’ve been calling Three Queens for weeks now haha)(why didn’t anybody correct me??? Haha!) also showed male, but same thing, just normal male pre-flowers. I’m pretty glad it’s only one of each right now, still leaves me with three Zaps and four of everything else.

Anyway, now I have to go back and re-label allllll of the “Three Queens” pics I’ve been taking haha…

Oh damn! Yeah straight up male flowers for sure. That first pic doesn’t look to far from dropping pollen either! I’d get em out, very very carefully , stat! Unless you want more seeds lol

The church sounds cool and some good herb for sure. But honestly after reading all that, I’m kinda glad I traded out all the beans and lost the cuts  Spicy plastic and little to no flavor are right out, and everything you described of the high is not a single thing I would use to describe anything I’d call haze. Good weed for sure, just not what I’m looking for in a ~11+ week sativa. Hybrid or otherwise. I think the BAH #7 might’ve been a little more my speed, but even that seems a bit too indica effects for my liking  still, damn good weed, just not what I personally want.

Anyways, idk if I’ve ever said it but thank you very much for taking the time to review all these flowers you smoke and grow. I wonder if they’ll be any differences in the coco grown version(s) of what you got

Oh, yeah, they’re out for sure, removed them this morning. I agree about looking like they’re about to drop pollen, too. Pretty crazy.

Three queens has been sitting atop my must pop list for like 8 months now! I’m just itching to pop that gem! Nice

Well, sure. I understand. But it IS very good weed, whether or not calling it a Haze or a Sativa or whatever is inaccurate. Personally, I don’t really give a shit what Doc D calls it as long as it smokes awesome haha and it does, so… I get maybe not wanting to deal with an eleven-week plant to get the effects that I’m describing, but maybe I’m just not describing it accurately, I dunno.

Honestly, I’d flower for fucking 16 weeks (and longer) to get weed that smokes like the better Bandaid Hazes that I’ve tried (not the #7, though, or that one maybe CBH-leaner that I grew). I think it’s great weed.

One of the reasons I started growing again was to find weed that made me feel like the stuff I smoked when I was a kid, which is obviously sort of an impossible task, just because I’m different than I was 35 years ago haha, when I first started blazing and cannabis is different now than it was then, too. But that Bandaid Haze comes pretty fucking close. It’s probably the closest I’ve found yet, actually.

Oh, yeah… Sure, man, anytime haha. It really doesn’t take that much time haha and I don’t have very much other stuff to do anyway. I’ve said it many times before, but I always get so annoyed when I look for info about seeds I’m interested in and there’s nothing out there. It’s like,”I know y’all motherfuckers are growing this shit. Post it!” haha. It seems like documenting it is the least I can do. Thanks, though, I’m glad you appreciate it. It’s my pleasure haha.

And it’s fun, too! We make friends along the way! Haha…

It’s Triple Goddess, right? I feel like I’m losing my mind haha, been calling it Three Queens for weeks, but it’s definitely Triple Goddess, Bodhi’s Three Kings x Snow Lotus. Unless you’re talking about something else.

I just remembered that I posted pics of my “Three Queens” plants on that Bodhi Discussion thread a couple weeks ago and even then nobody corrected me. Seriously, what’s up with that? I’m kind of like,”Is anybody paying attention at all?” I mean, obviously I’m not, been calling those plants by a completely different name haha, but still… Seems like somebody should’ve noticed that.

I’m just glad I didn’t start the grow log yet haha…

I definitely get that 100%. That’s awesome she comes close to what you remember! She sounds great, I just feel like I could get those effects in a 7-8 week indica  lot of it sounds like straight NL or NL5 effects to me, with some haze scent/flavors(spicy/musty leather) and the longer flower time on top. Nothing wrong with the NL5 leaning, I love NL5, that’s just not how I’d wanna get her personally. I got other stuff for that lol
The search continues over here ^^

Gotta agree, both you and @nube produce some very nice & detailed summaries / review with clear structure. I always try to emulate to the best of my abilities but come up short & scatterbrained. Others as well but since you both recently posted…

Somehow missed that you popped Triple Goddess seeds. Really looking forward to seeing your thoughts on that one assuming there are females, and how it compares to Uplift / Goji.

They have a word for it in the Haze thread that starts with L but I am struggling to recall!

Welllll, I dunno… I wouldn’t compare the BAH to NL5 at all. I mean, it’s been years since I blazed any, but I used to get pretty amazing NL5 on a fairly regular basis and it definitely didn’t make me feel the way the good BAH’s do. It was great weed, much more “up” and sociable than I think people assume it would be, just because it’s an “Indica” and all that, but the BAH does not remind me of NL5 at all.

But whatever. You’re not interested in the Bandaid Haze. And that’s okay haha. I’m not here to convince you to grow it haha!

Because I’ve been referring to it as Three Queens for weeks :joy::joy::joy:. Swear to gawd, if that dude hadn’t asked about Triple Goddess on the Bodhi thread yesterday, I’d still be calling it Three Queens.

What is it? Is it “Lumbo”? Haha.

Nahhhh, dude, yours are good. I like them, anyway. Plus, your pictures are way better than mine haha.

I actually finally got a new phone last month, upgraded from my iPhone 7 haha. The dude who helped me at the store was like,”Yeah, we have a trade-in discount thing, but… This… This is an iPhone 7? Is that right?” He acted like he was looking at some old rotary phone or something. And I did not get the trade-in discount haha.

Anyway, my point is, I think I may be able to get some decent trichome shots, especially if I use that clip-on lens thing that never worked on my old phone. Pretty stoked about it, might help me decide when to chop instead of just going off of feel like I always have.

I noticed another one of the Zaps was showing male when I was shutting the tent tonight before lights off, so he’s gone. That leaves me with two, which, bummer. I reeeeallllyyyy hope those Zap seeds don’t turn into another Soar Situation, where I have to plant eight seeds just to find one female haha. Kinda looking like that right now, though… Maybe that just means the other pack I have is LOADED with females haha…

Ah, really? Very stoney, giggly, munchies weed, doesn’t remind you of Northern Lights at all? That’s definitely what I get from some of them and nothing I’ve ever seen or tried from any real Haze. Hazes are soaring/euphoric, non-munchies, get shit done or walk through a dream, weed. Little to no body to them. You’re High AF, not stoned in anyway. Stoney, giggly, and the munchies, are all indica effects in my book. The spicy and musty leather scents are indeed from haze tho. Haze A carries the musty leather scents specifically. Looking at the lineage, It honestly would make sense that there’s a lot of NL in the bandaid  CBH is a nl5haze cross itself. Crossed to A5Haze and whatever Mirakel is. Not Thai that’s for sure. Anyways…

Yay to new phone! Lol

Boo to all the male zap’s  I’d send ya my pack too if you need it. Especially if you think you might start taking snips :eyes: lol

Agreed. I recently harvested both The Church and Bandaid Haze #7 and, after a couple weeks hanging plus a week in tubs, have started trimming and sampling. They have a surprising amount of body and not nearly as much UP and zip-a-dee-doo-dah, but they are in no way comparable to NL5 or Northern Lights, generally. In Portland from 1993-1995, I regularly got NL5 from the son of a grower and it’s not even close to the same effects. However, while I do really enjoy the BH line, I also generally agree @HolyAngel that this is neither what I expected nor what I’m looking for in anything named “haze.” But, this isn’t pure haze, so there’s that caveat. Also, The Church is only a 75 day flower and it produces well and is bulletproof stable. It’s worth trying.

If you don’t mind me hijacking your thread again @minitiger, I’d like to do another review comparing and contrasting my experience and smoke reports on the Mr. Mystery Man organic & coco Church and my own harvest of it vs. your report.
