You could pop a seed a day for 11 years from just those alone haha.
I could briefly open a seedbank but yeah it’s why I can’t bring myself to pop 3 beans here, 3 beans there. I just pop whole packs at a time and cull away from there.
I think that’s completely reasonable. I know for the longest time when it was difficult for me to get breeder seeds I was ultra careful with every plant and feared culling because “what if”. Now that we have easy access to so many seeds if we don’t do that the seeds will lose viability / vitality by the time we get to them anyways.
Yeah I get that. I was like that at first too but after trying so many flowers over the decades and growing for years; These days I only flower out the plants that speak to me and/or have the traits I’m looking for and I don’t care about anything else. Herms and mutants go in the compost, I don’t care how good or rare the smoke might be. I have too many beans to care about every single plant.
haha. haven’t grown them because of the same problem, too many seeds not enough space!
Still in the fridge but planning to run them soon.
Your info and feedback has been great. I really like the “flop” test at pre-harvest. Great info that I’ve not seen before. And the DanishModern growroom is unsurpassed in style!
I also have a BAH7 that’s been vegging for too long and I need to get going.
I’ll def post pics of these when they get picture-worthy.
Best to you all
Is this a joke? Are you fucking with me because I said that I’m good on seeds? Haha.
That’s another in a long line of reasons of why I haven’t bothered making my own seeds yet. I don’t think I’m quite at 333 packs, but it’s close. However many it is, it’s more than enough.
Yeah, maybe. I dunno. I guess it depends on what your “goals” are. In Holy’s case, I understand; he’s looking for specific things to forward his breeding projects. In my case, though, I feel like I’d be doing a disservice to both the breeder and the seeds themselves by trashing something just because it isn’t necessarily growing EXACTLY the way I’d like it to.
I mean, honestly, I’m just happy if they turn out female haha. Anything after that is a bonus.
Haha, what? Are you talking about the kitchen? That’s just where I chop the plants, definitely no growing going on in there haha. Thanks, though. I like our kitchen, too, pretty much the whole reason why I was like,”Yeah, we should buy this house!”
Looking forward to it.
Here’s that coco-grown Bandaid Haze Church pheno:
Those pics were taken with my camera, took a few with my new phone, too, but “converting” them so that I can upload the pics here (or whatever) is a total pain in the ass. So I won’t be posting those pics, although they do look pretty good, albeit a little "digitized.”
Anyway, I’m not gonna write a full-on smoke report for this one; the effects are virtually the same as the soil-grown version (although I have noticed that I don’t get that little ten minute mini-rush with this coco-grown sample).
There is one thing I wanted to make a note of and that’s that this coco version actually seems more fragrant and flavorful than the soil version. It’s “louder” and the flavor is for sure more pronounced. It still smells and tastes like “plastic/spicy” to me haha, but there’s just more of it. After I smoked this one for the first time, I actually thought to myself,“Maybe I should switch to coco…” haha! I won’t, but the thought did occur to me.
Did you chop the coco plants later or earlier than the soil ones? Or do anything differently between the two (besides growing one in soil and one in coco, obviously haha)? I can’t remember from your log.
I’ve also only been doing bong rips of the coco one, whereas the soil one was only blazed in joints, so that may have something to do with the flavor differences, too, I dunno.
Anyway, yeah, this is great weed. I still haven’t noticed any sorta “incense”-type lingering smells after blazing it, but I don’t really care about that. This coco one has the same happy high, laid-back “life is good!” feeling, great legs… She’s a keeper in my book, for sure, no matter the medium she was grown in.
You’re the third or forth to comment that the coco version was “louder” and tasted better than the organic, weird! Maybe I’m a better coco grower than organic, hah! The ones in coco were chopped a little earlier, I think right at 69-70days, while the organic when longer… wanna say 75-80 days. The lighting was slightly different in the coco version too, maybe that has something to do with it? I also think that I did a better job of drying and curing those coco plants (which is funny, because I basically neglected the whole dry and cure process on those plants and just let them hang with no humidity or temp control).
Anyways, yeah, I like the BH Church cut. Not quite as much as I like the BH7, but it’s still very good herb. Makes me feel good when I smoke it, though I have started to notice a bit of body to the high… nothing like Chem or Bubba, but there’s something there. It doesn’t really make me crash out though, which is nice. I have started picking up on an incense smell in the air, but only after smoking it… it just smells different lingering in the air than any of the other herbs I’ve been consuming lately. I’m growing her again right now in 7 gallon organic, maybe I’ll do a better job on the dry/cure this time!
Hm. Yeah, that’s interesting. I’ve actually been thinking my big Apache may be on the outs soon. It shouldn’t be, oughta have at least 20,000 hours left, but I have been thinking about that, anyway haha.
I think it’s probably just the different grow media, though. Certain plants do “better” in soil or coco or whatever. Not that there was anything at all “wrong” with the soil-grown BAH Church haha.
And that, too haha. Everything seemed pretty dang perfectly-dried and cured, but yeah, maybe just letting them hang and not giving a shit had something to do with it haha!
Could just be because she’s gettin’ older. I did a few bong rips of her last night around 7, stayed good and baked for a couple hours and had, like, one hit left in the bong. Thought about cashing it before I started getting ready for bed, but decided against it because I thought it might actually keep me up longer than I wanted to stay up. So I tossed it and smoked some of the #3 Yesca instead haha.
There’s definitely a “body” component to the high, but to me it’s just more of a super-loose thing, rather than a “sleepy” or “lazy” thing. I love it.
I’m gonna have to make a point of seeing if I notice that. I keep forgetting!
Ummmm, maybe haha. I think it’s pretty dang good right now, but yeah, I guess it could be better haha! I’m not sure how, but maybe…
I really doubt the lights had much to do with, but I won’t rule it out entirely. I think you’re right, it’s the grow media that make more difference than anything. If your light is on the fritz, this deal is pretty hard to beat. ATV Series – Apache Tech Inc
I’ve been thinking of picking up one myself.
Seriously, I need to do that more often, maybe I put too much worry and effort into curating the perfect dry and cure, should just chop 'em and let them hang. If the plants are good, the smoke will come out good.
For sure, it’s not a heaviness, it’s actually like my body feels lighter than normal. She has a kind of “floaty” body feel.
I’ve been vaping some of the Church this evening and tastes even better that way than smoking. I get the plastic smell that you get from her, but it doesn’t come through in the taste… thankfully! Also, she cut through what I smoked earlier… I think I smoked Lav Jack earlier and she’s stronger than that. Puts me in a really good headspace too, no negative thoughts, or anxious feelings, just uplifting and happy. Bandaid Haze is definitely worth a grow… I hope Doc continues to work the line.
That’s a great deal!
While I tend to keep my environment pretty controlled for drying kinda winged with some outdoor old soul just hung the whole plant in a closet for awhile and turned out loud and tasty on par with my indoor run of the same cut that I used a inkbird and humidifiers etc sometimes simple can be best
Heard so much good about that jack cut that b uses really seems to make things shine does the nn cut lean more to the jack or Wookie side of things?
Sure is a pretty plant like a quite a few of the lav jacks I’ve seen grown
Only had one plant before that had a kind of plastic smell was a pheno of ssdd x gogi og only after a bit of cure I grew that had a kind of latex plastic smell but didn’t taste like it at all weird how complex and Vast cannabis smells can be
Yup, I’ve done the same, all the tricks… curing in fridge, freezer, bags, no bags, darkness, no darkness, etc… I think the common guidelines are good though, and produce the most consistent results… 60/60 is great, but honestly who can get their space down to 60 degrees unless you have a dedicated AC unit and drying space? My experience after drying lots of plants is… if the plant is good, it will retain most of it’s smell and effects outside of the normal drying/curing range. It has a wide window in which it will still come out decent.
NN was gracious enough to hook it up with a nice bit of the Jack Herer, it was nice to use as a comparison against the Lav Jack. I think the NN cut of Lav Jack is a good blend between the two parents, it’s not quite as creative/uplifting to me as the straight Jack Herer cut, but there’s definitely a mood lift there for me. The Wookie amplifies the flavor, like Mini was saying, the dad seems to “candify” everything. Seems like lavender citrus candy overtop all those Jack terps. She’s a gorgeous plant, especially when she ripens around day 60 or so, lots of purple comes in.
To me, honestly, the bandaid haze has lots of mildewy basement smells there. Or, maybe livery smells, like iron, or wet pennies or something like that. I don’t eat lots of liver, so I can’t tell you what it smells like. I can see where Mini smells the plastic thing, though, I think that’s what some people interpret is “livery”. Wide world of smells out there with weed… like I said previously, I would have never selected for something like this by smelling it, but after smoking it, my perspective changed, it opened me up to the fact that all weed doesn’t need to smell sweet, skunky, chemmy…
My light’s not on the fritz, I was just thinking in terms of, like, PAR or whatever haha, like maybe it’s not as strong as it used to be. I posted those pics of the old Mountain Temples I grew years ago on the Bodhi thread a couple weeks back and after looking at them I was like,”Gawddamn, man, those plants yielded really well. I wonder if my light’s getting ‘dimmer’,” or whatever.
It is a great deal. I haven’t used that particular model of Apache, but I fucking love the AT600 and the two AT200’s I use. If I had any money at all, I’d probably buy that light and just throw it in storage until I need it four years from now haha.
Ahhh, I dunno. I was kind of just kidding around. I think probably humidity levels should be kept in check when drying. “Perfect” temps would be nice, too, but like you said, 60 degrees? That’s not gonna happen here haha. It’s why I’m not gonna be flowering/chopping in July and August moving forward. It just gets too hot and there’s nothing I can do about it, feel like it really does affect the flowers while they’re drying.
I blazed some more last night and started thinking that maybe it’s the “leather” thing that I’ve seen other people mention? Like, could “plastic/spicy” maybe be construed as “leather”? Haha.
I agree, especially as far as the flavors are concerned. It’s actually kind of making me rethink the Wookie male(s), just because the two Wookie crosses I grew did not have anything going on that could in any way be described as similar to that Lavender Jack. If I’d have grown/blazed that LJ before the Cherry Trance and the Pinball Wizard, I’d probably be way more stoked about those Wookie crosses.
Not that I’m gonna start buying a bunch of Wookie hybrids now or anything haha, I’m just sayin’…
I think in the case of the BAH, it’s coming from the A5Thai male that Doc uses. The ones I grew had it and so do the Chocolate Blitzes (Chocolate Trip x A5Thai) from this last round. I dunno about those SSDD x Goji that you grew, though haha.
I’ll be curious to see if the Wat Phos that I’m flipping in a week have it going on, too. I honestly don’t mind it at all; flavors and smells are secondary to the way weed actually makes me feel and, so far, those “plastic”-smelling cultivars of Doc’s have made me feel damn good.
This is where I’m at now. I mean, I’ve kind of always been there, but “loudness” or plants that smell appealing or like something where you just wanna pop a nug off and eat it haha doesn’t really matter to me.
Anyway…
Hashplant D smoke report:
Looks:
Sorry for the gawd-awful “dried flower pics,” but that was the best I could do.
Smell: Unbroken flowers actually smell very coffee-ish and like the flavor of chocolate-covered cherries. Keep in mind, though, that this has been in jars for like three months now. When I did the “final seal” after burping the jars for a few days, she smelled pretty garbage-y/dumpster-ish/vile.
Broken nugs are all garlic/armipt/dirty trashcan, though, and nothing at all like the unbroken flowers smell. The garlic/armpit is VERY reminiscent of the Clusterfunk that I grew. Nobody but a weed smoker would find the way this one smells appealing, I don’t think (unless they were some sorta pervert freak haha). And maybe even some weed smokers would find it pretty unappealing. I like it, though.
Flavor: pretty hashy, with weird undertones of nuttiness, like maybe a walnut or a chestnut or something. I eat almonds all the time and it’s not like that. Definitely more of a “nut that I don’t like” flavor. It’s not bad, though haha.
High: This one is, to me, just a classic Chem high, with that “down then up” stone, although I don’t necessarily feel the need to sit down for thirty minutes after smoking the Hashplant D like I have with a lot of Chems/Chem hybrids. I do feel like I’m moving underwater for the first 45 minutes or so, but it’s still relatively functional. The first few times I blazed her, I had to think to myself,“Am I moving as slowly as it feels like I’m moving or do I just feel like I’m moving super-slow?” Turns out I just feel like I’m moving slow. Everything feels kind of “choppy.” Not heavy, but more of a,“Wahwahwahwahwah…” feeling, like those sounds when the The Six Million Dollar Man does something amazing, these ones:
After about 45 minutes, it becomes a very different high, almost like a switch was flipped or something. You know how in movies where, like, a bomb goes off or something explodes and they do the sound in a character’s head, where everything’s muffled and the character can’t hear anything and it sounds all “muddy” and then that high-pitched ringing happens and then everything is clear and loud and chaotic again? That’s how this one smokes haha. It’s like the first 45 minutes are all “muffled bass” and then the next hour is all “tin-y treble.”
It’s an interesting high, for sure. I dunno why I’m bringing up the Six Million Dollar Man and bombs exploding in movies and shit, but maybe it’s a very “cinematic” high? Haha.
She’s an enigma, wrapped inside a riddle haha. Good weed, though, for sure. I guess I could say that she’s an “anytime”-type of weed, but she isn’t “anytime weed” the way other things I’ve blazed (and am currently blazing haha) are. I’ll probably just stick with her for my bedtime stuff, but I do think she’s fine for daytime, too. Just maybe not “daytime” stuff for me.
I dunno haha…
Great report @minitiger ! Love it, literally can almost FEEL what you are describing, very descriptive and well written, always loved your reports. It’s the smoke report/finished product part I’ve always lacked on and need to step my game up at and for the most part just do them . Definitely just upped my want for a pack or some F2’s significantly! Much respect
Thanks, dude. It’s good weed for sure, but I dunno if I’d worry about ever finding a pack or some f2’s or whatever. If you can’t find them, I think you’ll be alright haha. Like I said, it’s good and I have zero regrets growing it, but once it’s gone, I don’t think it’ll be something that I miss or feel compelled to grow again ASAP or whatever, like I do with certain other plants.
That could, of course, just be my own personal tastes. Maybe some people really would miss that Hashplant D. And I’ve said the same thing before about other 88G hybrids, where I thought,”Yeah, I like this one, but I won’t miss her when she’s gone…” and then I miss her when she’s gone haha!
I do think I’ve settled on the #2 Chocolate Blitz as my favorite from this grow, though. That’s really all I’ve been smoking and all I’ve wanted to smoke for the last week or so and I don’t see that changing any time soon. I’ll miss that one for SURE when she’s gone…
I reposted the smoke report on the Bodhi Seed and Strain Discussion guide just now, even though I reeeealllyyyy didn’t want to. The actual Plant Guide, where people who are actually growing Bodhi’s gear post, that’s fine. But that Seed and Strain Discussion Guide is annoying. I don’t even think half the people who post on there actually grow any weed, pretty sure they’re just re-sellers and shit. I only posted it there to passive-aggressively be like,“See? Yes. Here’s a smoke report. Now shut the fuck up about seed releases and quit copying-and-pasting pictures that you took from breedbay,” or whatever.
The thread seems to devolve every late fall / winter. It’ll improve again come spring as always.
By the way are you planning on open pollinating the rest of your chocolate trips.
Thoughts on why that is? Maybe people have time off from work during the holidays and nothing else to do but post asinine shit? I really have no idea, although I do think it’s kind of impressive how quickly they can pull pictures out of their asses on that thread. Like, they just post one picture from a breedbay thread from twelve years ago in order to prove their “point.”
I always wonder,”How the fuck did they find that picture so quickly? Did they save it on their computer or their phone or something? Like, in case anybody who actually grows weed disagrees with what they’ve read online?” haha. I dunno…
Haha, I’m sure this is in reference to something, but I can’t remember the joke right now. Is it just a general “Are you gonna f2 that?” thing? Or is it something specific to the Chocolate Blitzes? Did somebody ask me if I was gonna do that? If they did, the answer is a resounding,”NOOOOO!!!” haha.
