It’s up in full on YT but at a low quality. It was last released in 2000 on DVD according to IMDB. But it’s been copyright claimed multiple times due to its soundtrack which leads me to believe it might not get released again in the modern DMCA era-there’s a charles manson doc from the same time with that problem.
So if you have that dvd it would be really cool of you to possibly upload it somewhere. Thanks.
Here’s the version up on YT:
I really wanted clearer footage of this scene, where a grower harvests his crop:
Thanks.
edit to say that 2nd clip stops playing just before the part where he harvests his plants. He’s grow sativas in Kentucky (I think) so there’s little or no flower. But as you can tell by watching the whole doc nobody know what part is psychoactive.
hey thanks for the legwork #pigeonman!
Unfortunately its the same quality. That DVD from 2000 may not have a good transfer and this might be the best quality of the film left.
The first movie would have been 16mm, then scanned to SD at 480i.
This SD 480i would end up as the DVD, possibly at 480p, but not likely…
So the file I shared is a DVD rip, so I’d assume the best version of this that EXISTS UNTIL the 16mm film copy (or possible 35mm blow-up) is re-scanned at 1080p or higher…
At least you have all the meat available in this copy; and if you don’t want it to look like shit pull out an old CRT TV screen and when you playback it’ll be relative to the playback monitor and thus NOT look like number crunched garbage.
Another option is watching it through a playback system that’s got SOLID upressing hardware/software and watch it on no more that a 1080P television.
Watching this on my 720 looks fine, 1080 okay, and 4k hot wet garbage. The bigger the playback system the more it’s making shit up as it goes along and thusly the hot wet garbage effect.
I didn’t know that about the video qualities.
This may be as good as it gets.
Anyway it shows how little they understood about cannabis back then.
Its amazing to see these college kids load up a u-haul trailer’s worth of hemp leaves, dry it, and the press it all into blocks, drive it back across the country only to find that it contains no psychoactives.
