Hey new user here, little backstory been growing for about 8 years mostly with leds and in coco. I’ve used a wide range of nutrients over the years but for the last year or so I’ve been using drip hydro with adding fishshit, recharge, and some nectar for the gods products like tritans trawl and hurculean harvest. Most strains I’ve run in my setup perform great and yield great results with the exception of OGs they just don’t seem to hit the way they used to don’t have the grease to them or the same stink that I remember from back in the day, and with OGs being my favorite strains to smoke I’m planning on running a little experiment and would love some input on it from people who have experience growing OG back in the day. I’ve always heard OG performs best under hps so I got a air cooled 600w hps hood from growlite that I’m going to be running this round I’ll have 4 plants under it a Josh D OG, loompas headband, SFV og, and a chem 91. Over the years I’ve heard multiple growers talking podcasts or just talking directly to them that they used to crush OG back in the day running general hydroponics nutrients and feeding tons of calmag in flower, so I’m planning on running GH for nutrients and maybe adding fishhit to it and a guano like budswel, essentially trying to mimic how it used to be grown years ago. I found this feeding chart on a forum that was made with the help of swerve from Cali connection back in 2013 or so but it’s made for dwc and I’m planning on running these in soil. If anyone has any input or advice on a feed guide for bloom or anything I should add or take out or just some advice from OG growers I’d love to hear

Seems to me like you just need a good clone. Yeah pheno hunting from seeds is fine but you gotta reveg that keeper or have back up clones.

Nectar of the Gods is a good Nutrient line.The One Shot they make can be used like TPS One for veg and flower all you have to do is adjust the dose light in the beginning getting progressively heavier through flower then back to light to then nothing in the end.
I used to be one of those guys cropping the hell out of OGs in cali. Ive gotta disagree with the GH and HPS being the trick though. The GH/calmag in rockwool or coco was the mids OG method usually. I knew some guys doin real nice synganic OG, but all the best OG I smoked was in good ol organic soil, also how I ran it in deps. And back then that stuff flew out the door. Also, modern LEDs grow just as good OG bud as HPS, dont listen to those growers stuck in the past on that one.
All you need to feed is a good amendment blend, bi weekly teas, and some Buddha Grow/Bloom for juicin em. Stole it from a dude that was doing tester farms for Aurora/Roots back in the day. Super simple and Ive seen it work on a bunch of grows, big and small.
The real factor that noone talks about is real OGs do best right on the coast, where its cooler and higher humidity. Something about that cool coastal breeze and fog makes em really shine. Same applies to indoors, hot rooms will make OGs shine or not more than the nute regime. Hope this helps!

I was just about to say basically the same thing.
I was growing Platinum OG in soil with buddha grow, buddha bloom, and aurora big swell at the end of flower. Back in my bottle growing days haha. I got incredible bud with that regiment growing in a greenhouse.
I did a long season in the summer: veg may-june flower july-august 4 months from clone to harvest.
and the rest of the year, I would propagate my clones and veg under 24 hour light. so when I put them in the greenhouse in fall winter or early spring, they would flower and finish in two months without light dep. I got up to 6 outdoor harvests per year that way.
that was such an easy reliable grow back then.

Its very nice! From my bringing in a buncha OGs, seems like thats the “original” OG whatever that means lol. I ended up bringing it in under 6 or 7 different names. But there was this other cut known as the “fire cut”(not fire OG), and that one was my favorite OG. But idk if its even around anymore? Ive not seen buds of it since 2018.
TK and OGs(as I know them) for sure look very very similar. Also super similar smell/flavor with that rubbery/gassy/pine thing goin on. The big difference Ive noticed is TK is straight narcotic in effect, and OGs are notably more cerebral. Despite looking very similar.
Very interesting … very hard to find a good OG this day an age even in SoCal i ,was convinced something was missing. this a good thread glad i found it been trying to find a solid regiment on how to use the roots buddah grow and bloom in soil the people i know its hard to use i read somewhere that you gotta PH the water a little higher before or else it wont be where you need it. was going too see if you could give me a solid schedule for veg and flower and how to properly use it or point me in the right direction to solid thread been looking for weeks now not an easy task.
