Hello. I’m an inexperienced grower and would appreciate some help. My plant, now a month old, shows downward turning leaves. The plant received enough water. I always wait for the top inch of earth to dry before watering again. The temperature in tye room is under 25 degrees celsius. I don’t know what causes this. No fertilizer has been used yet, and if some is needed I would greatly appreciate a recommendation.
Thank you for reading.
Need to post some pictures of the plant @Shirefolk
The first thing that comes to mind is overwatering, next is underwatering.
From experience, even if the top inch is dry, there would be plenty of moisture deep down. This mistake in judgement leads to over watering. IMO, a better way to check is by lifting the pot and feeling the weight. If it’s heavy, there’s still water in it.
You may want to try bottom feeding a few times in between. You can discard any remaining water in the plate under your pot once it’s done sucking up the water the pot needs.
Pictures would help.
I would cancel the one inch down finger method and pick up the pots. Feel the weight and then you’ll know when it’s thirsty. Once you get a routine, it will be easier. Once you get that dialed in your plant fan leaves will be perky again. The same thing @DamnItsARunt said basically lol
You can research and buy a soil moisture meter for less than $20, which can tell you when to water. But if funds are limited I agree with the pick up method. It’s actually pretty easy.
Like all the leaf turning down?
Or just the tips?
Need to see some photos man but either under or over watered most likely overwatered. If the petioles and stems are somewhat straight or normal but leaves dropping than prob overwatered… with underwatered plants the petiole and leaf will be dropping pretty heavily. Here’s an example of underwatered
Thank you all for the fast reply!
I suspected both overwatering and underwatering, but having failed to determine which it was, I looked for advice.
The plant appears to be healing. The new leaves grow normal. The previous are still slouching.
Here’s a picture from now, after improvement.
Looks like it’s time to repot that into a bigger pot with more soil.
Seconded! Transplant into larger pots!
Yep, looking good. RuleOfThumb: Repot when the leaves stretch over the rim of the pot.

PS, Welcome to the coolest Clubhouse in CannaTown!
Thanks for the info. I repotted the problem child. The leaves still turn downward, though they haven’t been watered in a few days. When would be a good time to water the new pot?
You can give it a lil bit of water now just go easy anyway most of the time leaf droop is cos it’s too wet (wet feet) sometimes it’s because there’s too much N in the medium however you will normally see it’s foliage is pretty dark verging on blue ISH if it’s cos of way too much N that’s causing it Vs water yours don’t look too dark just saying for future reference
