Where does anyone place the driver for their light outside the tent? Is it ok to just screw it to a wall?
Thanks again for answering a noob question!!
My driver I have sitting on top of the light. My ballast is outside on the floor.
Anywhere that has good air movement around it, lower down the better.
Most people mount to a piece of plywood or some such, then mount that anywhere outside the tent. This protects other surfaces from discoloration due to the driver heat, which can get somewhat hot depending on your make/model.
In winter you may want the driver in the tent for the extra heat.
Michigan winters can drive night time temperatures down pretty low in a typical basement. I’ve seen low 50’s without supplemental heat and my basement is a finished basement. Drivers in the tent are a nice way of using the heat they produce to help keep things warm. I use quantum boards so once the weather breaks and begins to heat up, the drivers are real easy to move outside the tent so that tent temperature is easier to maintain using temperature controller.
