Hey all, I have some autos going outside they’re all mephisto, 11 different strains in 4 large fabric pots.
I try to keep them fairly small so they don’t get too noticeable as there are assholes in my neighbourhood who will steal my plants
Seems they don’t get noticed if they stay smaller, plus I find it much easier to just move 4 pots when the rain and hail comes in!

I started one other seed but I dropped the solo cup right after I planted it and I lost the seed I can’t remember what it was right now but it was just a freebie
They’re all quite healthy, growing fully organic in a peat based “living soil” I did a top dress with some amendments and worm castings + compost about a week ago, and ill probably do one more in about a week.
It’s been a unbelievably rainy summer here, I have been trying to get them into some sunshine still but it’s been the rainiest summer since they started recording the data! Hopefully the moisture won’t be a problem, I might try and do a foliar treatment of some hypochlorous acid to hopefully keep things kosher
I cleaned up a few leaves the other day but I might need to do a bit more, the plants have gotten a bit bigger than I expected, but they’re into flower now and almost done stretching so should be good.
Happy growing all, just wanted to share some Canadian outdoor organic autos!
this is encouraging, I have some 10gal pots with 3 autos each outside this season, they’re really fun to watch but I go back and forth between “theyre gonna get too big!” and “they’re not gonna get big enough!” cool to watch someone else do something similar. cheers!
Thanks man! I decided to post it on the mephisto Reddit and people were trashing it saying they couldn’t possibly grow well and would all die will make a new post when they buds are all fat and then stop posting there altogether lol.
The biggest thing is training the plants as they do get fairly bushy, I put some light metal racks from a little mini greenhouse on them to spread them out early on, I’ll try and find a pic, and then just using some copper wire to tie them down here and there and bending (and snapping accidentally) lots of branches haha.
I look at the outdoor plants as bonus weed and it’s a nice way to get a bunch of different strains so I can have some nice variety to go with my indoor.
I was gonna put them in kiddie pools with wicking bases I made up, but it’s been so rainy I haven’t bothered, if it was hotter I would though since they would probably dry out in hotter temps
Cheers man I think you should give it a shot if you’re interested in growing this way! I started them in solo cups for about 2 weeks and then put them into the final pots with more amended soil.
Thanks man! I’m quite happy with how they’re growing it’s been a fun grow!
I had them under a 150w HPS in the garage for about 2 weeks in solo cups and then I transplanted into the final pots, with more amendments but I left the pots a little less full so I could top dress, will do one more this week most likely so they don’t start showing deficiencies, cheers
Thanks man! I agree mephisto has some pretty great auto genetics, definitely changed the auto world! I used to not even try growing outside because the autos weren’t very good and not much can finish where I live in the photo side
Thanks man! I have been quite happy with how they’re growing, finally getting a bit of sun thankfully.
Ive got some hypochlorous acid on the way so I should be able to treat them in time to prevent any mold or bud rot issues, I’ve been trying to clear some leaves out to get better airflow, but I prefer not to remove them when possible.
We’ve got another 40-55mm of rain forecasted over the next 10 days lol. This is the rainiest summer there’s been on record where I live, it’s relentless!
Things are coming along, plants are starting to really fill in their buds and getting frosty. I gave them a top dress with some dry amendments and compost+EWC on top. I find the compost and ewc really seem to help get the nutrients into the plants more quickly.
I’m probably going to look at chopping some of the buds down this weekend, I won’t take any whole plants but I am thinking a partial harvest of a few will be in order.
Last year I kept pushing them longer since they kept growing and I left them too long, so I don’t want to ruin them like that.
It’s starting to get cooler at night, I don’t know how much longer I’ll have before the frost starts coming so I’m hoping I can get the longer running plants finished
I have a mini greenhouse I can put 2 maybe 3 of the pots in so it should be ok, but I hope that the weather will warm up a bit. We’ve had a cold rainy summer, so it hasnt been ideal conditions but the plants have done quite well despite that.
There’s a nice range of terpenes on the plants, I will be quite happy to have the variety around.
I got a bottle of hortisan hypochlorous acid to clean up my plants a bit so hopefully that will be sufficient to prevent any pathogens from spoiling the crop.
I’ll probably go around and defoliate some of the leaves off the plants I intend to harvest first, as I like to let the wounds scar up as it leads to higher quality hash extraction when doing bubble
