Early flowering Aussie season outdoors

Are there any other Aussies having problems with there photoperiod plants flowering already. Seeds were planted outdoors between October 10 to 20 . Had this problem about 5 years ago with early flowering. Even the small sativa are flowering

Maybe we could get @stiffy or @Mad_Barry over here to answer your question.

I couldn’t say as I haven’t grown outdoors for the last two years.

Not sure where in Aus you are, but daylength should have been at least 12.5 hrs by mid Oct (or at least it was in QLD). Unless they’re getting shaded for a couple of hours or so in the morning/night maybe? :man_shrugging:

Yeah mate @Billybob I have had the same problem for the last 3 seasons. I now don’t put anything in till about now and I just leave them in small pots and then transplant them into larger pots in the New year . I will post some pics when I get home.

Here is a couple of early flowering plants @Billybob . A Freakshow, Cap Junky and a Banana OG . These were all put in late September to early October . As I said I am putting beans in now to be transplanted in the New year. They get a short veg time and then go to flower.

This is very interesting because I had plants flower last spring when I placed them outside and some never reveged. They just flowered all summer until the horrible drought caused them to shut down and ripen early. Im in the USA.

I guarantee you that if I put the Cap Junky in the ground or a larger pot that it would reveg and be a absolute mess. I had a couple do the same thing last season. Reveg stuff is a nightmare to trim and they seem to be more vulnerable to mould. :+1:

Stuff I used to plant outdoors here in west Oz normally wouldn’t start flowering till late Jan/early feb from memory mate.
The old man has some plants about 4 weeks old outdoors that certainly aren’t flowering yet.

I had this problem before but it was because I’d sprouted them inside under 18hrs and then put them outside in about 13 or 14 hours of daylight and they went straight to flower but that’s all I can think of sorry mate.

Cheers matey. Yeah matey it’s ok to pm me. I’ve got a couple of island sweet skunk about 3 foot tall that aren’t flowering yet. But most of them are flowering. Only upside is I can make more seeds to plant at Xmas. Most of the plants are in full sun. I ended up planting more seeds today
Cup junky X log cake 11
Wild Thai X pink Floyd
Mango widow X pink Floyd
Ak48
Bogglegum
Long time
Hopefully these lot of seeds don’t flower. I might just keep planting seeds every 2 weeks to make sure . Last time it happened most plants didn’t stop flowering . Some revegged but were weird looking at harvest. @Pixie65

@Billybob yeah mate I got a few mates up on the Nth NSW coast and they have been putting all their seedlings in late January early February and have had great success . They get the rain in veg and then it dries out for the flower stage. Anyway mate I would be putting extra ones in this year I just had a storm come through here and it was like a mini cyclone . Good luck and take it easy :v:

Hey guys, I am new here and will start my first outdoor soon. I dont live in Aus but I live in the parallel 27S, which passes right through Australia, so our day length is the same. I found really cool that I could put plants out in Feb and still grow only using the sun. For how long do they veg in this condition?

Hey mate the seeds I’d plant in October/November would generally veg all the way through to the following January(late) or February, perhaps a bit later, and then start their stretch to flower. (Longest day of the year here is late December).
But, if you planted the seeds in Feb I’d say they might veg for a month or so and then transition to flower in march. I’ve planted seeds in mid Jan outdoors and still got a half pound dry (Sannies Madberry), which for me at least, is reasonable.

I haven’t grown outdoors properly for a while though so I’m just going off memory and the other fellas experience and results might be different to mine. Hope that helps a bit though.

Hey man, thanks so much for the reply. It helped a lot. I am moving to a new house in mid dec and I’ll be able to plant them straight into the pots outdoor then. Amazing. I think we have the same photoperiod here, thanks a lot for your help.
