I see a point here too, the simple amount of posts shows us this!!! 
I think he was referring to people like grumpy old bastard seed co, who showed up recently as a new member with the word “seed co” in their name, but didn’t pay to become a sponsor.
The first thing they did after joining the community was post their mac s1 seed run. That generated good will. The next thing they did was link people to their personal commercial website. People paid and placed orders, and did not receive anything. “grumoy old bastard seed co” has disappeared.
I think that’s a pretty clear cut case of teasing a giveaway as a way to gain traction for a scam.

Actually this post was taken from a private message group, not the private lounge, of one of Chronikyle’s grows that he had asked for to be deleted by a mod. Due to the discussions that team OG were already having, LJ thought it would serve as a talking point for what was already being discussed and posted it without asking if that was Ok.
That is fair. The fact is that most know me around here at this point. I only joined last Dec but am one of the most active on this site. I read a ton, have done a grow journal, a server fund auction, have done a community seed run which will be in the fall box and am one of the most active doing giveaways in the free seeds thread. Hundreds of seed packs have been passed out by me and all without a penny changing hands.
While my motivation is pure I know I have contributed to the increase in leeches coming to OG for the freebies. This is why I have drastically altered my methods as I respect the concerns of everyone here including those I dont agree with. It does not mean I will stop however I am aware of the consequences of boundless giveaways so want to find that happy middle ground.
I knew Grumpy Old Bastard had disappeared but was not aware of the traffic he drove to his site nor about sales not being completed. While a shame I feel people need to be careful about lumping all together as it feels like that has happened. We dont all have to agree all the time but should be open, honest and respectful of each other and all opinions.
Look all, I dont claim to be the best grower, the person with all the answers or better than anyone here. I am simply a guy that loves the OG community and looks forward to being here a long time. I hope all will continue to discuss their concerns with each other in a respectful and open way. If we do than we can solve many of the issues being spoken of.

On a lot scene we would call them “wookies”. They aren’t hippies, just leech off of hippies generousity. There’s still plenty of pure hippies, and older hippies out there. It’s funny, but I followed Phish for over 20 years, and there’s so many names for the different cliques / types of people.

I honestly know nothing besides the freakshow relation. Canna research isn’t releasing alot of details. It’s whatever genetics he took when he and his dad (shapeshifter) parted ways.

That’s actually an example of an individual that was promoted here, initially gave away a bunch of ‘free’/promotional testers, folk were directed to his shop (not a site sponsor), followed-through on some early orders, every thing seemed to be ok, then more or less stops responding to inquiry (yet was logging in daily), failed to deliver, and absconded with payment.
