I meant to refer to students who blatantly do not do what they are expected to, failing to honor their part of students’ duties, then turn around and not only expect, but also demand teachers to make miracles! One couldn’t that, imo… And agree again, not exactly the same, there’s a leeching element which refuses to go away!! In this case!

You can look through the lens of proper manners, moral responsibility or any number equally valid view points. The all have value.
I look at it as a winnowing process, those that see value in our community settle down, the others bugger off. Kind of like a coral reef ecosystem, lots of different folks sharing.

That’s part of the issue. Many members that used to see the value have “buggered off”. Unfortunately many of these members are what has created the value up until now. I will say though, you are one of them that created it for me.

in the forum’s context, enforcing this by having requirements to be eligible is necessary in my opinion. I see it already beginning to happen in some threads and that’s a good thing.

actually read the entire thread. There are some good points here… but the general gist’ of it…
How can you get mad at a kid for going to a black van for candy if they don’t know any better…you have to teach them!
…You join a forum and see a thread that says free seeds, what do you expect a newbie to do? The onus is on us, the older members, the ones giving the free seeds to educate and redirect the newer members to the correct path.
(is there not a thread where newbies can go for free seeds? Maybe we direct them there and they get one single pack and that’s the limit. And the free seeds thread can be for users who have been here X amount of time, or have X amount of constructive posts or something along those lines?)
Aside from that, I’m sure there will always be a handful of people who just come for free seeds. Are we really supposed turn over the landscape of og because a select few individuals?
(now there were some other things discussed in this thread that could be discussed, but the free seeds thing seemed to be a focal point.) That’s my opinion on the free seeds.

I like that idea, i there a way to make a wiki that only higher trust levels can edit? Start one for newbie giveaways, if your of tl3 you can edit that they received one, if your above tl1 you can’t get them on it, then make a tl2 and tl3 freebies too.
