Everyday Haze Grow

They are very much polar opposites. They one on the left reminds me very much of some of mine, especially plant #7. Tall, with lots of spacing between the nodes.

The other one reminds me of plant number 1. It was shorter and stockier, and now is blowing up in growth, but still maintaining the bushiness.

They are nice looking plants.

That one is probably going to start blowing up this week. I think I stunted it a bit because of a drain clog the other week, and the pot wasn’t draining properly. Since fixing that, it has bounced back quite a bit. But even if it weren’t stunted, I think it would still be really short. In time, I would hope to line that short trait up with a very hazey pheno. I think I’ll try to do that in either the F2, BX2 or BX2 F2 generation. I’ll have to run some grows and see what turns up the best options.

So basically you are looking for a good Haze smoke, with a bit shorter plant? Would you be looking for a bit shorter flowering time with that as well?

Y’all really interest me when you start talking selective breeding.

I think all other things equal, I would be interested in shorter flowering time. But I have some skepticism about whether all other things can be equal. I think that sativa vs indica isn’t necessarily a good way to delineate a certain type of effect, but short vs long flowering might be.

I always have to smoke plants first before I make any conclusions, but I’m more concerned with finding/making sativas that are accessible to grow indoors. While I wouldn’t prefer to grow a plant that goes 16 weeks, if I don’t have to fight with it to keep it out of the lights, it’s not as much of an issue to me. The whole industry is chasing after what is normally associated with indicas, honestly – tight buds, short flowering and long resin stems. Even what people call “sativas” are bred to be like indicas. They might have crossed in a sativa at some point, but can you call it a sativa if you selected away from all of the things associated with sativa traits?

So I tend not to worry about some of those things. Because if you want different weed, you need to start by not re-tracing the same steps that everybody is already doing. For me, in this case, that at least means keeping an open mind toward plants that don’t look or grow like dispensary bud and being willing to compromise on things like flower time or “bag appeal”. But I really don’t like to compromise on selecting toward plants that can be grown indoors without too much struggle.

I’ve noticed alot of the strains are the same kind of mid level hybrid stuff with different flavors and names, but similar highs. I think you make a great point, if you want the awesome Haze high, you gotta be patient.

Thanks for the explanation, interesting stuff.

Got a quick picture update while on the road. Day 10 of the flip.

All but 3 are growing well. Plants #2, 3 and T4 are just lagging behind. Going to move them to the veg tent and let them recover more.

Number 7 is still the tallest at 32 inches, but number 1 had a growth spurt and has almost caught her at 30 inches.

Group shot of the tent. The Haze are the 2, 3 and 4th rows front to back

I agree 100% with all of that, the whole sativa vs indica thing is overblown, and in fact there is no scientific evidence that supports this classification because on a molecular level, indica and sativa strains don’t have differences that set them apart from each other. That thinking goes back to the 18th century, when they came up with a cannabis classification system based on the appearance of the various plants. There is only one cannabis breed which can adapt and take on asstd physical traits. Temp., humidity, sunlight, nutrients, and even the altitude can affect its terpene profile as well as the effects it has on us.

Finally getting back home after a week on the road. Everyone was thirsty and would have looked a lot worse by tomorrow. I had #2, 3 and T4 moved from their flowering tent and back to a veg tent. I may replant #2 again. Just seems like it does not like the soil it is in. Here is a little more update.

Plant #1 is really taking off. It is grown 5 inches in 5 days, and 12.5 inches in 11 days The base is filling out nicely and showing some nice structure. It is in a 3 gallon plastic pot.

Plant #4 is 16 inches. It has grown 6.5 inches in 11 days, however is filling out nicely. It is in a 3 gallon plastic pot

Plant #5 has slowed in growth. It is 23.5 inches. That is only 5.5 inches in the last 11 days. This is the second lowest amount of the plants in the tent.

Plant #6 has the less amount of growth over the past 11 days. It has grown 4 inches to 23 inches taking it from the second tallest plant, down to the shortest of the non topped plants.

Plant #7 is still the tallest of all the plants at 32.5 inches and has grown 8.5 inches in 11 days.

Picture pending…

Everyone today is much happier after I gave them a good watering last night. Luckily I will be home all week after Monday.

Sometimes a little drought is good for them. They certainly look like they’re ready to rock now.

Thanks. They are really moving. I do find it interesting how 5 and 6 have really slowed down their growth, while the others are showing a big growth spurt.

Numbers 2 and 3 are looking better now they are back in a veg tent and under less wattage. There are under a 240 watt LED, instead of the HLG650R. I put Twin #4 in there too just because of size and room. She is responding very well also.

Considering letting them veg for about another month and moving them into 5 or 10 gallon pots and see what they can do.

All I’m gonna say is wow.

Looking great! You definitely know a plant is doing real good when they reach for the light like that

The plants are still growing rapidly. I noticed today when checking on things many of the plants were above the hanging string. I measured a few again as I plan to raise the light.

Plant #1 is continuing a crazy growth spurt growing 3 inches in a little over a day now at 32.5 inches

Plant #4 has also grown 3 inches in a day and is now 19 inches

Plants #'s 5 and 6 grew 2 inches. That is half of what they grew the past 12 days. Both are at 25 inches

#6

Plant #7 still leads all the plants growing 3 inches to 35.5 inches.

The twins are also growing at a fast rate

T1 is now 30 inches. It seems to be filling out more then the others.

T2 is one of the taller plants of the grow at 32 inches.

Group shot of the tent

All the plants in the tent seem to be really growing rapidly now. Looks like I may need to add the extension to the Gorilla soon.

The 2 plants that was pulled from the flower tent because of struggling are starting to recover nicely in their new surroundings. T4 was pulled do to size and needing more room.

Plant #2 is now 24 inches tall. She is starting to get some of her vigor back and looking better

Plant #3 is 23 inches.

T4 is 23.5 inches. She is 6 inches shorter then her twin and 9 inches shorter then the tallest twin.

Decisions made today. So I’ve selected the male and discarded the shorty. My reasoning is that I want to make my BX2s as close to the original as possible, and do pheno hunting in the BX1s (EDH). The taller guy is much more like the Panama Haze than the short one, so that’s what I’m collecting pollen from. The EDH girl in front I also liked, so I took clones and hopefully will get them to root. I’ll flower them out with a PH clone or two and pollinate F2s when I make BX2s.

I just planted some clones I made from numbers 5, 6, 7 and T2. They were in the bucket cloner some extra days due to my travel. There was Clonex and some Azos in the water. I had Clonex gel on the stems. Went 8 for 8 on rooting.

Impressive bro. I need to take some notes on your cloning. Beautiful plants.
