Failed grow third year in a row with Humboldt seed, company seeds

This is the third year iv used their seeds and again, failure. I’ve been growing for over 25 years and I’ve never had this happen.

Failure in what sense?

I would have stopped using them after the first year. It’s definitely possible they have inferior seed quality. But it seems like we would have heard more reports from growers if was that bad?

Why do you continue to use them???

So after you found this website why would you go anywhere else for seeds?

Are you sure it’s not the Humboldt Seed Organization? They’re a white label Spanish seed bank pretending to be from America. And hoping people will think they’re the humboldt seed company because of the similar name

Humbolt Seed Company is geared for outdoor growers. This came to light more recently a year or two back when they admitted they had no indoor testing capabilities. This was their response to a herm issues that was popping up in their triploid lines. They should have been more transparent with their testing as most growers assumed they were testing indoors and outdoors. I lost all confidence in anything coming from HSC as I believe they probably aren’t honest about much lol. I have seen lots of negative feedback lately on internet about germination rates and communication issues. Not sure how testing outdoors will ever help indoor gardens IMO….

You are here in Overgrow. Chat with people, take part in competitions, there are so many ways to get some really good seeds here from the community. No need for the major companies, imo.

Second time growing HSC. Ive had pretty good results indoors. A pal of mine with an outdoor commercial spread in cali told me he ran them for a few years and he grows hundreds.

I haven’t grown much of their gear, but I’ve had 100% germ rate so far.

Had 1 herm too, but it just 1 ball. Other than that everything as described.

@55DaViD, we need more information.
Otherwise, I’d just think your throwin shade.

So I ordered a five pack a few years back, and none of them germinated. I germinated them multiple different ways. The paper towel method direct sow, and none of them came up or I think a couple came up and then failed once they broke ground. I contacted the company they sent me five more and no luck with those either. Same things happened. I’m definitely not ordering more seeds from them every year. I’m just trying the ones I have every summer. I’ve been growing for over 25 years and never had this problem. I have brown seeds from ethos and Barney Farms the past couple years and I think seedsman. No issues. I’ve even grown bag seats with no issues. but for some reason, Humboldt seeds, I’m just not having luck with. I know what I’m doing. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but for some reason their seeds are just not growing. I’ve even tried using different soils. And still no luck. As a matter fact, I also tried buying a grow light and all that stuff for indoor, and tried germinating them indoor, and still no luck. I figured maybe doing that instead of outdoor would help. I only grow outdoor by the way. I don’t know what it is with their seeds, but something ain’t working. It was also only one strain/cultivar. “Farmer’s daughter“ so maybe I’ll have better luck if I tried other seed varieties from them, I don’t know. But I know the 10 seeds I got from them and try to make the past three years grows with her not working. I only grow outdoor by the way.

I got some great seeds from people here last year or the year before and had good success with them. But I’m looking for feminized because I don’t have a lot of space. And if I grow multiple plants and have to weed through males and females, it’s more difficult for me. Are you on the grill outdoor by the way. I gave them more in-depth response down below. I’ve also been on overgrow since early 2000s. I think 02. The website went down for a while though, so I had to make a new account years later

Recently I also had germination problems with them, I got a pack and none of them germinated and I used the same methods that I always use to germinate, I only had problems with them so far

I bought their blueberry muffins & got like a 10% germ rate, reported to seedsherenow, they replaced with identical that I traded away happily. :man_shrugging:
