Oh yeah I forgot to mention what I was doing with my sis!

Last night my nieces got the pleasure to ā€œsleep with the sharksā€ at Ripley’s Aquarium here in downtown Toronto.

(Not my video but it lets you see where they slept)

My sis is on an international council and had a virtual meeting at 9am… which is when she needed to pick-up her girls.

So she asked if I could help and it turned out to be a hilarious adventure as we ended up going into and enjoying the morning in the aquarium saying hi to all the fish and other great things cared for in there.

Most of the photos I took I can’t share because they are of my sis and nieces which I always take for her when we are out and about.

I’m not their father or her husband but I love my nieces and my sister so I do any ā€œfilling inā€ things I can think of as they all work together as a family to navigate their new normal.

One blessing was for the first time in my now 4 visits to this aquarium I got to see the Giant Pacific Octopus! There are 2 in the tank and by the time the first round of guests pass through they usually go and hide.

Today one was still out and about and it let me take a pic:

This adorable, and rather large (18inchs) Axolotl was a wonderful thing to hang out with.

This is the white ones companion in the tank, but alas I didn’t get a good shot but here’s a bad one:

I have a soft spot for these critters as I had a Banded Tiger Salamader for about 8-10 years. I don’t remember the exact lenth of time as it was a long time ago.

His name was: ā€œBalfazar: Keeper of the Mole Peopleā€

There were never any mole people so he was always doing good with his job.

Now I go eat, then take care of the plants!

Also it’s passover! So we’re watching Stargate in the tradition of Sedergate!

Sedergate is my best friends fusion of his love of Stargate, ancint astronaught thory and his own faith and it works shockingly well.

What happened to the lost tribe of Isreal? Well they were taken as slaves by Ra who was in fact an ancient astronaught traveller from another world. This tribe was not freed by Moses from the Pharoh but were in fact freed by those involved and shown in the film Stargate.

Most passover dinners are painfully long, full of ritual and you’re starving for the real food that comes often hours after you sit down at the table.

Sedergate starts when he presses play on an extended edition of Stargate playing in the background while he speed reads throught everything as people follow along at the same pace all with the rjule that the seder ends when the movie does.

This limits the sitting part of the event to 2hr30min, and the overall event 3-4 hours which makes it the best version of a seder most people ever experience.

Axolotl’s are awesome. I’ve had Newts and Salamanders (many other reptiles and amphibians) but never had an Axolotl.
In BC you have to get a permit apparently to keep one.

You are a very great person Mr Pigeon Man. I’m sure your sister and your nieces are very appreciative. And here for a longest time I thought you’re only good at growing,

Earlier this afternoon while watering my Bonsai Dawn Redwood I saw a set of new leaves on it so I dropped everything I was doing and immediately did the root trim and re-potting this plant’s needed for about 2 years now.

I even prepared in advance! Also loving that I found ā€œMade in :canada:ā€ Bonsai mix for this after pricing out the components. Sure I paid a premium for this but it’s 1/6 of the cost of getting everything individually that’s in this.

Using a long ā€œgardenā€ knife I made sure the walls of the root mass were not adhered to the pot. It all came out perfectly clean and the pot undamaged.

To say it’s root bound would be a great understatement.

I didn’t take a shot of the tree before doing all the branch trimming in our bathtub but here it is now fully naked with all branches clipped but for one big one I took off at the very end of everything in an attempt at rooting it out because why not?

I tossed in 1/2 the terracotta pot’s worth of the Bonsai soil mix and then using the garden knife cut around the root mass at the appropriate height to fit the pot with the new soil. Inside I found the large lava rocks I like to put right at the base of the pot over the hole as a fail-safe to allow for drainage, bottom watering, and microbes/nutrient sink.

Going slow and steady to keep the moss that’s growing on top in place it still didn’t take much time at all to get through everything.

The walls of the mass above were greatly disturbed and loosened before going back into the pot and pressed firmly into the new soil. There are no wires with this tree as the pot isn’t a traditional bonsai pot allowing for the space under for the wires to sit. But since the pot is tall tree doesn’t require anchoring which is mandatory in shallow bonsai pots.

You can see below after I pulled the removed root-mass apart that it’s spiralling bottoms were guided by the tapering of the terracotta pot which is why it was literally climbing out of it’s own pot.

All in place and before getting water the plant sits in shock just before I cut off it’s last long arm.

Then back upstairs where it lives next to Squirt, my 20+ year old Peyote Cactus with occasional visitors like the random things growing out of the glass container which was a moss bed from a ravine hike.

In the same room is my Salvia Divinorum which has decided to enjoy life again!

I never topped her, and now since I can see a bunch of branches trying to coax out I’m carefully feeding her and then once I see them a little more established I’ll take and root out the tops.

So for now we cheer her on whilst taking dumps because it seems to be working.

Thanks @MoBilly !

They all ask for a little solution everyday which I’m happy to oblige cause it means they are growing well. Saturday will be the flip to 12/12 where I expect the three big girls: Maple Ridge Rockstar, Purple Kush (Coffee Cut), and Grapefruit Juice will all need to be wrangled to the sides even more so they don’t block all the light from the other 15 plants in here that are in solo-cups.

The Grapefruit Juice in the top left corner is MASSIVE and in the same size cup… just goes to show what you can pull off in a 16oz cup if you veg for 6 months…

@THCeed that GJ plant was meant for you but I’m using it cause we both haven’t swapped plants yet and my mother of he needs a good trim!

The lil ones are thirsty! Checking on the seas of solocups I needed to give each of them a little something so I’m glad that I also remembered that I wanted to give them Superthrive this week!

With 1 gallon of mixed Superthrive PH’d down to 6.1 got all 18x plants in the 2x4, the 12x plants in the 2x2, and 1 baster for each of the new mothers in the mother tent.

They are already rocketing and expect it to get even crazier in the next 72 hours

Well holy shit!

I sent payment to Scallywag yesterday with no rush for shipping and today he sends me a tracking number for my cuts which are arriving *TOMORROW?!

He also said he tossed in some freebies as my order was ā€œmuch smoother than he’s used toā€ and he really appreciated the no fucking around.

@Wizdom you weren’t kidding about this guy being a legend.
@Vikinggrow it’s all really happening!

 :+1:

The part that makes me smile is I decided on a whim to go to the hydrostore and buy more rockwool cubes as I was clean out… oh boy am I glad I did!!!

Oh wow that’s awesome man ya he does seem like a really solid guy and I sent him an email yesterday about wanting to get an order secured and whenever he can get to it is cool with me and he emailed me back saying he would take the cuts for them today. Super excited about this so many of his genetics are legendary and I’m not sure if the purple skunk stands out to you guys the same as me but the nostalgia I have for that is unreal. Couldn’t have found it without you guys thank you so much !

Every day I see the container of gelatin I have sitting aside to make gummies and today was the day I said fuck it and find out!

No pics yet as I ran with the impulse., and these are testers so no oils yet.

1/4 cup gelatin (grass fed)
1 cup water
2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder (grass fed)
1/2 tsp Acacia powder
1/2 tbs Baobab powder

The thing is it looks like cat vomit but smells okay and dropped into the molds fine. They are all in the fridge and :crossed_fingers: .
