I thought the same, I’m really looking for a banana pheno like Bodhi found but I’m also down for a distant Lambs Breath relative lol. Can’t complain either way, thanks for joining!

The old Lambread, the one Bob Marley smoked, flowered 18-24 weeks, just like “long flower”. Just clever marketing i think. They are one and the same. Selling Lambsbread is discouraged due to its Holy nature. Selling Jamaican “Long Flower”…? Well thats fine, lol, its only a relative :joy::rofl:

@Upstate I think you might be onto something there. I can be a bit taken in by stories sometimes just by my nature. But thinking about it in light of religion and capitalism, Your version seems way more plausible. Still a cool landrace!

Hey y’all, some unfortunate news… another hermie, this time I wasn’t able to catch them before 2-4 of the little sacs bust a nut. I see a few brown pistils on the plants it was near, but I also noticed the male opened up a few sacs too :man_shrugging:t4:. It’s crazy because I literally checked them all Tuesday night and didn’t bother doing so on Wednesday, which means they popped up over one night.

With that said, that leaves us with two options: 1. Chop them all, call it a loss, start another landrace asap (I have plenty). Or 2. Continue growing these out until the end, allowing the non hermed male to do his thing and make this a project to breed out the intersex traits - Of course the first option is calling my name because I’m frustrated lol but I’d be more willing to lean towards option number two if others were willing to help me with that project with the obvious understanding of risk involved (hermies!). Or at the very least a fuck ton of encouragement if no one is willing to help out because breeding out intersex traits is not a cakewalk I’d imagine.

what a pain these are. leads back to my experience with the strain, i thought you were in smooth sailing, the options you have, breeding out thr herm traits can be done but will take time or a big group effort,
it is a hard call, but my vote would chop and start a different crop.
i know tropical type sativa will herm and is expected but these one seems more prone to it.
how disappointing though for things to turn out this way
in the end though it is your call and your grow

if you do choose to continue instead of chopping, please label that these came from herms, who knows how far these seeds could spread would be unfortunate to ruin so many unsuspecting growers crops.

In my opinion theirs enough herms out their, why spread more

either way, sorry for your loss, shitty situation

Of course! If I did continue, this wouldn’t be a normal seed run and I would not allow a list. I’d select from volunteers that were obviously aware. I’d prefer to start something new though, just a bummer . This is only my third time running into herms (of my 7-8 years of growing) and even then it was like one or two plants when it happened before, never seen so many hermies at once

Yes, super disappointing I thought I may have gotten lucky with a good batch but guess I was wrong. I got another strain from the provider of the seeds, a bit scared to grow those out now. I guess now is as good a time as any to finally pop that Ukhrul or maybe I’ll pop some some Iranian since I think that last Razavi preservation run experienced some issues and was shut down

I ordered it. The description… oooooh that description. Had me counting my change jar for an emergency purchase:rofl::joy::joy:. I like the story too. I think its all true, with a bit of truth left out:grin:

Not an easy answer.

  1. how far into flower are you?
  2. how many flowering sites were actually unfertilized previously when the hermie happened? If there was already a male doing his thing, not many.
  3. how many males left? How many ladies?
  4. if you never got hold of this landrace again, kago of East Arfica Genes disappeared, and corporate weed destroyed this landrace, would you wish you could go back in time and use what you had, hermie seeds be damned?

My feeling is that not many flowering sites would be hit in 24 hrs. Spray down the room, axe the hermie, continue. We are not striving for entirely stable lines. That will come later, but only if there is something to preserve. With no repro, there is nothing.

@rootfarmer may have stable plants of Shashamane.

First step, mist the crap out of everything in the tent (with water). Get them good, up and under too. That will take care of any still viable pollen.

Cheers

Landrace is gonna landrace. how much work is everyone going to put into this strain. If we as a group don’t want to fix it why not move on to something else?
