I think it’s a common misconception that feminized versions of a regular sex variety will result in similar plants to the reg version. I think the majority of feminized varieties are a result of reversing the regular version onto itself or another female of the same lineage. So, it has been inbred, and is more like a feminized F2 version of the F1 reg cultivar. The other process would be to start with the original parent varieties, finding a quality female that shares common traits with the male first used, and then reversing it to pollinate the original mother to the F1 reg variety that you’re trying to feminize. This would result in a F1 fem variety with more hybrid vigor & heterosis than the inbred S1/F2 version. Still, you’re using a different donor plant with different genetic coding. The combination of the new parents can’t be expected to produce identical offspring to the regular F1 variety.
