I’ve just been using LST techniques to try and mitigate the stretch as much as possible and tucking fan leaves from blocking bud sites. Noticed the plants have been slightly yellow since the initial flip to 12/12 so I’ve been slowly increasing the nutrients and checking PH levels. Found 5 males so far (1 cereal cake and all 4 sour diesel Bx2’s unfortunately) and will continue to monitor for signs of sex on the cereal cakes throughout the next week.
I’ve decided to do an open pollination with my most pungent sour D male x everything else in the tent, so it isn’t a complete washout on the sours. It’s been super mild temps in my area lately so haven’t been running the AC very much and temps have been creeping up to around 81 degrees F in the day and humidity is spiking up at night to above 60% RH. I planned on doing a major defoliation at day 14 along with adding a scrog net after I’ve determined and pulled all the males on the cereal cakes and will probably add a small dehumidifier to keep RH in check during the dark periods. Kinda bummed on the Karma sours and will probably takes clones to flower on regular photoperiods in the future to avoid wasting extra time and resources on unwanted males. On the plus side, this will be my first attempt at a breeding project so wish me luck OG!
I have confidently determined the rest of the cereal cakes are females and decided to keep the best 2 males (based off of stem rubs) of the 4 karma sour diesel Bx2 plants instead of just one. I still plan on doing a major defoliation and lollipop of lower budsites at day 14 along with adding big bud supplemental nutrients to their feeding regimen and will update then but for now, I’m just tucking fan leaves and watching the magic unfold. Temps are still ranging from 70F - 82F and humidity is more stable after removing 3 of the 5 males and is ranging between 35% - 55% RH.
Not much to update here. I’ve done a pretty major defoliation and lollipop of lower budsites and decided against adding a trellis net because I will be removing the males after pollination has taken place (probably around week 5-6 or so). Little budlets have started to form and I’m pretty excited for Tropicana cookies #1 based off of her smells already and have taken a few clones to back her up as well.
I’ve removed both males from the tent as most of their pollen sacs have opened and after a few days of shaking the plants and leaving fans pointed directly at them, I’m fairly confident the majority of the females have been successfully pollinated. I also collected some extra pollen prior to trashing the males because we just introduced a new addition to the flower tent on 9/19/25: a pinky zowahh clone freshly rooted in an aero cloner from a mother plant (separate from the first PZ already in the tent which is from seed) and will be grown out exclusively in a solo cup for the OG solo cup challenge. I realize she will be a little more than 2 weeks behind schedule from the rest of the tent, but she’s mostly being used for more seeds from the KG sour d Bx2 males so not that big of an issue.
I’ve also done some rearranging in the tent as cereal cake #4 has stretched too close to the lights so I’ve relocated her to the outer perimeter of the canopy. The cereal cakes are putting off a strong almost licorice like scent which I’m assuming is from the root beer side of this particular cultivars genetics and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Tropicanna cookies #2 is already turning purple, though I’m unsure if that’s just a reaction to successful pollination or not. So far she’s the only one purpling up out of the 3 but the smells from TC #1 smell absolutely delicious and I believe she will end up being the ultimate keeper from this run. I may do an S2 project of TC 1 and TC 2 to try and combine both traits from each phenotype into one, but undecided until a smoke report is conducted lol. That’s all for now, peace everyone!
