First indoor grow!

Good afternoon fellow growers!

New here to the forum and also new on growing indoors. I have grown lots outdoors in the past, but since I have moved to a very small town where houses dont have much privacy, I am adventuring on growing indoors.

My grow size will be basically the size of a single bed/mattress size. Basically 100cm x 190cm rectangle. I have already bought those corners connections for PCV pipes of 20mm. I havent decided yet how tall I will make it, but those measurements should give you guys an estimated area.

I bought a small led painel from Cadu’s Cultlight brand 65w for now the early first months but yesterday I purchased the FC4000 EVO 320w from MarsHydro. It should be ideal for my rectangular shape grow I think.

I used to live in the countryside of SP where the soil is very rich and lots of friends nearby were also growing huge plants.

I had to move to the northeast cost of RIO DE JANEIRO county due to my job, so I basically beggining from scratch here. I had to leave everything I had behind due to the regime we are living here now, it’s getting very risky to have seeds or growing equipments with you, specifically in my case that basically moved with my dogs and the essential on my car. I didnt want to risk having seeds or anything realated since there are tons of Federal Police checkpoints.

Even though it doesnt look to far, this new place I moved is about 1000km away from where I used to live. The soil here is very poor, basically beach sand with too much salt and acidity. It rains way less but its way more humid since it’s near the coast. The humidity levels are usually arround 75 to 85% on sunny days. Possibly I will have to invest in a very good dehumidifier soon.

I tried growing only one plant here since I have moved and it went kinda okay, even though the plant was only getting a little of direct sunlight from 9am to 1pm. Very little but it was hidden behind the house where the sun doesn’t shine much. I harvested it a little early afraid of the flowers get mouldy since we were entering winter and the rain season was nasty. Even with everything against the odds it turned out okay. It was a seed from Paraguays weed (prensado). It smells a lot like lemongrass but the taste is very fruity towards papaya.

I believe that trying now indoors I might be able to harvest way more, but I will need a very good dehumidifier.

I will leave a couple of pictures of the grow place indoor and after a couple of pictures from the last harvest I just mentioned.

Growing indoors is very new to me, so any input, suggestion and recommendations are very welcome

edit: typos

King regards to all gardners out there!

Here some images from the plant that barely had sunlight

Me too!!!

I haved lived in Wales and Scotland between 2004 and 2012 studying and practicing biodynamics agriculture among the Waldorf communities.

Im sure i would be able to contribute a little. Today I work with aviation. We have surprise drug test amost twice a year but we never get to know when. That makes it very tough for me to smoke as I did in the past. So I can only smoke one or two joints max on the first day off in order to give time to my metabolism clean up the urine. I work 15 days on and 15 days off.

Its a very nice and good job, I cant risk getting fired for now, but I am investing basically 40% of my income so I can move somewhere else in a couple of years and live from what I love, painting guitars and working with plants!

I don’t know how to send you or @sd9007 a DM. Maybe because I’m new to the forum and don’t have those features yet or I am lost in how do it. Is it allowed to share my IG or steam profile here?

@Ibegeekdup Nothing at the moment gathering supplies currently. Waiting on some fabric pots, I got some handed down 200 watt spider farmer grow lights and throwing them in a 2x4. Once I get something in order I will for sure post a log

Welcome @McDoubles !!! Thanks for tuning in! Looking forward to see your build come up soon!

Today I will share how I add some extra loving to the plants.

On the indoor picture I shared above, I had just moved the babies from the 500ml cup to a 10L vase.

When I do that I dont usually add anything to the soil but bone meal. I sprinkle lots of it on the moist rooted soild that just came out from the cup and about a soup spoon on the soil of the now final vase.

Today I will add 10-10-10 NPK and just a little bit extra of castor pie to boost nitrogen.

Since the soill around here is very sandy and acid, I am buying composted soild from a local plant shop. No idea yet how good or poor this soil is. Therefore I am taking these supplements in small doses.

I miss a lot the organic soils I used to have as I barely had to add anything to my outdoor plants. But thats also learning and I love it!

I will come soon showing how I do that! Do you guys prefer if I share the steps with pictures or would you rather like if I made a video to upload to yt and share here?

Good morning OG’s!

@bluntzera Appreciate it. And I’d say photos here so it’s easier to check in, and videos every now and then if it’s not too much of a hassle? But I am unsure how most do logs here so I’ll let someone else chime in. Hopefully that composted soil does the trick for you.

Grat idea! I have recorded some videos and taken some pictures already, now I need to learn how to edit and upload it to yt but it should be simple!

I’ll be back soon!

Here some images for now. Something happened with my ISP server, the internet is really since friday. Maybe they will fix it tomorrow. So I am using my 4G meanwhile.

I thought the soil was already dry but it is very wet still from the day I put them on these final 10L vases. I usually dig a little deeper around an inch to add the food.

But I think you guys get the point, making an inch channel around the plants.

It doesn’t matter much for me the order I add these nutrients since they are powder or in grains.

I add around two table spoons (soup spoon) of the 10-10-10 NPK and only one of castor pie (torta de mamona) to ensure I am adding more nitrogen to the mix

This is the castor pie (torta de mamona) I am using

This is the 10-10-10 NPK

After adding the nutrients I cover the channels and water them. Since all the vases seemed very well moist I didnt water them, just sprayed some water in order to for the npk grains and castor pie to start sinking in.

Here all the babies already fed. After that I took them outside to get some sunlight.

When my internet is working properly again I will download a video editor on my desktop PC to edit the videos I took showing guys the front garden I am making and these plants also.

Enjoy!

Looking good so far bro. Looks like a little nitrogen or magnesium needed? I seen some yellow on plants as well and it was because the soil was too compact and the roots were not getting enough air.

40days of life and looking good!

Havent water them since the day I transplanted them onto these final 10L vases on the 18th.

Soil seems moist 2inches deep and the gnats are kinda gone. I havent seen them on the past 3 days.
