First strain you grew, and kept growing

For me it would’ve had to be purple sour diesel, it was good smoke up until we had recieved a p full of seeds. I’m not kidding there were so many seeds it was unrealistic. Anyways they turned out to be s1. And I grew this strain from seed up until 10 years ago when I ran out.
Are there any strains you have grown for 5 to 10 years straight?. I did it because it was some fire purple bud, and I knew every seed was female, never had any problems with hermies with those.

the first strain I grew and kept growing was also the first strain I ever grew from seed.
It was a local seed line of Shaman, a 90s skunk line. the yields were amazing, I haven’t seen colas like that on any other line.

It had a lot of variation, a lot of plants smelled exactly like lemon skittles, others were herbal, and some were almost kush like. The lemon phenos had so much citrus terpenes, the citrus flavor even came through in brownies I made with shaman canna-butter.

sadly most of my seeds from the bay area were stolen, including the shaman. otherwise I might still be growing those.

Sad to hear they were stolen.

fortunately I have found a lot of good stuff since then.

It would have been nice to get a shot at an indoor grow with this one though.
Here’s a photo of the shaman in my old medical grow-

this cola was wider than a regulation football. The whole plant was just one giant cola, about chest high.

huge shaggy old school sativa hybrid buds with tons of citrusy resin.

That sounds like one he’ll of a plant and the pics don’t lie. Dang, what a tragic loss. For real. That sucks. But hey like you said fortunately you have found a lot more good things.

Cool topic! I grew AK 47 for 8 years. After that I had trouble finding good ak seeds. I’m at 39 degrees north and it was always matured by September 15. Strong smoke. Nice relaxing head stone. Msnl made some good ak 47 beans. Thanks for making this topic. I’m gonna have to try and put one out next season.

First few were bagseed.

First bought seeds were nirvana northern lights, California orange bud, pure power plant, and white widow.

All winners in their own ways.

Grew out the COB just recently and will do so again at some point.

No problem I thought it would be a good topic.

So glad to see someone mention this one.
One of my first plants as well and I just pulled a couple seeds from the deep freeze that are 14 years old - they sprouted in 36 hours and are looking great. There is a bit of variation in that line, but in a good way. Yeah, you may get a dud, but there’s just as good a chance that it will be exceptional. It’s the complex fruity smell of the flowers that gets me big time!

Cinderella 99! It had always been a favorite of mine to smoke, so I started growing it on my second round ever, and some form of it is staying in my tent from now on. I grew out a pack of Hazeman’s C99 over two grows, it’s good stuff but I picked up FDMs C99 and have that about to flip to flower, and I expect I’ll be sticking with that line. Currently sprouting some FDM General’s Daughter (Airborne G13 x C99), probably squeezing in another quick run of C99 or P88 after that to make sure the jars are full until next year. For me, there’s no better get up and go morning smoke that’s so easy to grow and quick.

Wow, what a coincidence. I should have just put my own down at the start
I also just sprouted Joey Weed C99 from a pack I grew back in 2005. They also sprouted in less than 48 hours and this is what they looked like this morning. Look at the bases on these seedlings…

So I couldn’t agree more with @Foreigner and @Dirt_Wizard, that after all the strains I have grown (well over 60), that it is these two that I am going back to. I couldn`t recommend these enough for a new grower or someone that just wants something without fuss and gives you some amazing end product.

Had grown lots of beans out but in 92 set up my first “proper” grow with a seperate flower and veg room.
The seed came from imported weed (it was all imported where I lived back then) most likely Mexican.
Kept a female with enchanting smells and lovely buzz and ran the shit out of it for a couple few years. Flowered under 3, 400 watt HPS with the big umbrella reflectors. Grown in two liter pop bottles with the tops cut off, sea of green style( worst structure for SOG :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) and fed miracle grown.
The clone took a full 3 months to finish and I remember thinking that was normal for all cannabis! Had never seen Afghan plants, in person, at that point.( Small town, Canada)
Awe, good times! People liked it and eventually built a second flower room to run this cut. The dream came to an end with a break and enter/theft. Dug out this old polaroid to show the madness…
