So my carbon filter that I am going to be using for my new grow room showed up today.
It came with a white ‘sock’ that easily slides over the filter.
Can anyone fill me in in what exactly it is the sock is supposed to accomplish?
Apparently it is a prefilter…
“Wrap the pre-filter outside of the carbon filter when using as an exhaust filter to remove the hottest and smelliest air”
Should have gone and read the product description again prior to searching the internet, coming up with nothing and posting the question here.

The sock is a pre-filter. It is your first line of defense against the dust bunny armies and other particulates. It’s a lot easier to wash the pre-filter than replace the whole filter.

I was just thinking I should wash mine, so obviously there’s no reason not to? Do you just use soapy water?
