First time grower with a sick plant

Hi friends! I’m new to the homegrown cannabis game and have a problem with one of the four clones I purchased. Before placing them in my 4x4 grow tent, I quarantined them for 9 days. I purchased 2 high quality clones and 2 inexpensive clones in hopes to compare yields/processes. One of the inexpensive clones started to show slight damage on one of the leaves (yellowed with brown spots/holes) so I kept it in quarantine. Soon after, a green cotton like substance started to pop up at the roots of the plant. I’ve done some research and I think it may be a fungus but I’m not sure. Any ideas as to what this might be? And if the plant is salvageable?
Thanks in advance!

First, welcome to OG. Nice to have you here.

Secondly, it almost looks like rockwool separating and emerging. If that’s fungus, holy crap… personally I’d consider tossing it before the damage spreads. Maybe someone else can chime in with a better solution.

Best of luck

Thank you! I’m glad to be here! I’m prepared to toss it but wanted to get some advice first. Thanks for your input!

I’d swear that looks like rockwool. How resilient is that material?

Clones always (in varying degrees) have some stress before they get settled.
(Yours look healthy to me)

Do a search here on protocol 0. Everything you need to know about quarantining clones.

…And welcome to Overgrow!

The consistency of the material is dense and similar to steel wool, so I think you may be correct. Doing research now!
Thanks for your help!

but you should rip off a bit when planting your clone or cover it

the cube sticking out of the dirt is like a wick it will dry your roots out :frowning:

Hello. Welcome to OG. That is definitely a rockwool cube. Top growth looks pretty good, so I’d say your doing pretty good. Might have to feed soon. What medium are you growing in? Soil, coco? I’m pretty jealous lol! I’ve been wanting the Donkey Butter in my stable for a while now. Heard good things about it. I’ll be watching your progress. :eyes::eyes:

@dequilo Yup agreed, I would cover it.

@NessCan2 add a top dress of soil trim off the old leaf.

Looks good :+1:t4:

Welcome to OG.
Check it out with your loupe or mag glass. Then google some mold/fungus/rock wool pics and compare it.
