What kind of filter system should I use to clean the water if I’m only doing 1 plant. I seen how it’s down it’s there are multiple buckets.
Use a few drops of Hypoclorite (pool shock) per gallon to keep the solution clear of bad bacteria. GL!
You can also use hydrogen peroxide in small quantities or H0CL.
Nwxt time i break out my hydro setups i’ll be buying some Dutch Nutrient Hydro Sparkle as i’ve read/heard great things.
Yep I also went sterile with the calcium hypochlorite. Saved me a bunch of money and headaches.
I tried beneficial bacteria’s of all kinds and got no-where. Maybe with an RO setup first that would have worked, but apparently not with my city tap ![]()
Use octopots and get the results of hydro without the headache.
All the hydro set up’s I made and ran over the years I never used any type of filter at all.
Root rot is from still water and or over heated water, 68F to 72 F is your prime directive.
I found if I keep it moving, and between the degree goal posts, you will not get the rot.
Your nose is your best weapon , if you get a slight whiff of anything but earthy, then it’s *DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON * , check the temps, and flow.
Just my $.02

I use a reservoir under the plants, and an aquarium pump pushing a drip spinner to aerate and keep the roots wet. Never had root rot in 16 years of growing.
I also have an Ice Probe aquarium chiller in the reservoir to keep the water temps down.
The tap has chlorine/chloramine which kill bennies, need to nullify it first
sounds like your temperatures are too high ? id start with that.
