Finding mites/eggs in soil isn’t uncommon, mite eggs and a lot of other undesirable insects lay eggs that can safely “overwinter” in soil and hatch at the right time to start their lifecycle of secretly feeding on your plants… until…
DE is a great option for combating any crawling insect in any growing medium… it’s like crawling over broken glass when it’s dry.
You don’t have any strains that will stay small. The smallest will probably be the Ghost Dawg due to the heavy influence of OG Kush in its lineage.
All your other strains are sati-dom hybrids and should get sizeable in an outdoor setting.
The mutated leaf that resembles Ducksfoot is pretty cool. I like finding oddly mutated cannabis plants
Ducksfoot was made by crossing Blue Dream x Space Queen. Both parental strains have Haze in their lineages and Haze is made with Thai.
You never know what can be found while pheno hunting.
Thanks for all this @DesertGrown ! I’d hoped somebody would toss some knowledge about the strains I was fortunate enough to come across out here. All 1st timers for me! But any hints are most welcome!
Had another day of transplanting out and exploring every single pot for mites and happily only found 2-3 in which I could see some scurrying around. Reblasted those, and any & all neighbors. I know it’s gonna wash away with the rains, but I still can’t help but feel bad to see the plants all dusted by the DE/Sulfur mist, like tourists on the beach with sunscreen all over!
I also applied it to all the mix that hasn’t been used yet, mixed & tossed it, repeat…3 days running so far…and I ain’t done yet! If there’s ever an appropriate time to use the word “Fuck” on an internet forum, it has to be one in reference to mites!
Meanwhile, soaking another mixed-batch of seeds as I managed to clear out some space in both the seedling racks and under the big mossie tent. A friend has a roof-top Sun-all-day grow space and very little to populate it with…Ah, problem solved! On both fronts!
Bought a new rainwater barrel for the monsoon hut and didn’t see the label affixed to it until I was walking away. Fox News would love it!
Finally, down at the elephant shit pile…you don’t always get what you want! But if you try sometimes…you still find beauty! (It’s early yet, rains are a commin’)!
In the “Handy Gadget” corner, we have the DIY-Store $2.29 “Aplicador Multiuso”!
Odd to find this in a Thai DIY corporate chainstore, but I needed some measuring cups and there it was…one left! It’s as cheesily made as it looks, but it actually does work! Does a lite dusting, perfect for young plants. Going to try to plug in a small piece of tubing and see if I can make an upward-pointing nozzle for dusting the bottoms of leaves.
The Karel Haze’s & Apricots are pretty stressed out by all the mite treatments and bondage, will photo-update them in a couple days. That’s all for now, enjoy your Sunday!
Hey @Tlander ,plants are looking good.
Can you tell me any background on the Apricot that you are growing? I’ve been working a selection of White Apricot Sherbet (compound genetics) for the last few years(I’m at f3 now) and haven’t been able to learn that much about the pure Apricot. I was wondering if it was the same Apricot Helix used in the Legion Orange Apricot. I appreciate any insight you can bring.
@Budderton Sorry to say, I have almost no knowledge of any background of my Apricots. A French guy here is involved with a group in Columbia that have been breeding seed for Thailand sales. At the time we met I was looking to try some sativa’s and this and the Karel Haze were the only things he had with him. I’ll see if I can find out anything more.
A buddy’s new rooftop grow space can now start to get populated. Put in an automatic watering system and rigged up some templates for a monsoon roof for him. Planned the timing while it was still overcast…got there to find it blazing, and the new white paint job made sunglasses a necessity! Donated a couple young Apricots, Karel Haze and a Moby Dick to help keep his bag seeders company. Hope they can handle the sunrise-to-sunset Sun!
Very cool! I really wanted a shot of the markings on this one’s back, but he has wedged himself just under the lights and threatens to fly off if I get too close. Must have shot 100 photos and still somehow missed the iridescent wing-flare move! Damn!
A couple early clones just done ‘dirty’ in 4" pots of regular mix were showing roots out the bottoms (20 & 18 days from cut). So stuck them in 1 gallon airpots as backups. Still don’t know if it’s my mix texture or the Mychors, but I’m just loving them both when I see this kind of root action!
Lots of seedlings coming along nicely, Bruce Banners are looking real good, couple Chocolopes, pair of Durban Poison, four KD Koh Tao (and 2 older gifted seedlings), pair of Shoreline x Doc’s OG (Big Thanks @Maddawg ) round out the seedling rack. (for the moment!)
Got gifted some Blackberry & Purple Punch to try. Made the mistake of trying a little of each…now I don’t know which one it is that I’m enjoying so much! Guess I’ll just have to start testing all over again! Stay baked!
Another hot sunny day in Paradise after a 6-hour drizzle last night! Got a chance to do a bit more plant bondage and look over things. First a few shots of the girls playing belly-dancers, hiding behind their diaphanous veils! Not gonna be able to hide behind those veils much longer.
This probably doesn’t qualify for being in the “Grow Report”… Not YET, anyway!
But…
I decided I wanted to taste something ‘different’ for a change tonight, remembered some ‘Durban Poison’ stashed away from way back when a S. African came to visit, so pulled some out of deep freeze. The bud I picked had 5 seeds! Now not a single one of the previous ones has germinated in the last few years, so not super hopeful…but I have some others of a valuable-to-me strain that are being uncooperative, so had planned to ‘scruff’ them up a bit and do a 1% hydrogen peroxide soak before trying them…will do these at the same time!
Postscript; The mossy, fermented, almost alcoholic chocolatey smell of the bud-breakup reminded me a lot (I mean REALLY a lot!) of the old Thai weed in the early/mid 70’s. Taste once lit - again, not as good as I’d anticipated! Too long in deep storage probably. On a good note, found a few further seeds and ended up with a “Lucky 7” so might just get a chance to taste that bud ‘fresh’ again! The High; I’m loving it, energetic, creative, calm…but bummed it’s already 9:30 pm & I only have so little time for the 40 projects I’ve come up with in the last 30 minutes! (See how creatively I’ve found ways to use the BOLD texting! (Yeah, I know, I gotta find a good ‘stoner’ emoji!).Here’s to Africa!!!
I am glad to see that I am not the only one that comes up with way more projects that I can do by myself. I always attribute this to good . Gets the mind working and once that happen there is no telling whats going to come of it.
Haa, haa, haa…Don’t I know it! I still have pots/mix/plants standing at the ready all evening and at 10pm here I’ve been typing and photographing on OG!
Gonna be a looooong night!
