First time hydro attempt

Still a novice grower. Have been having difficulties in soil recently, so I decided to set up a kratky and experiment. I am doing it on the cheap.
Container is a kitty litter bucket I painted to keep light out. No net cup, stones, or rockwool cubes. I popped the seed in a peat puck. The expanded puck was later placed in a hole in the lid, and a couple of bamboo skewers to secure it.

Strain is gorilla berries (feminized).

So far this has been my easiest and best looking plant.

Feb 26. First day in the kratky.

Very original setup Arriba|nullxnull, how often do you change water? beer3|nullxnull

If you add a cheap air stone, you can prolong the life of the nutrients in the rez…

Love It,Do you monitor the water temps?I would like to go hydro kratky with Little pots, like 1-2 liters, but have thought how difficult It would be in spite of easier Coco growing.Monitoring temps and water pH closely and very very often Is a problem to me

Nice looking experiment that will enhance and provide the curious with a different direct to go in as the sky is the limit.

Neat, but dirt I inherently easier than Hydro. I would find out what I’m doing that’s not working is soil first before stepping up to the more difficult Hydro. Your plants seem to like it though!

I haven’t yet. Just topped it off with fresh (no nutes), as I was seeing signs of nitrogen toxicity. I may still change it out soon, but I like to let my tap water breathe to get the chlorine out of it, and I did not have enough. My watering containers are refilled, so I’ll probably change it tomorrow once the water has sat.

I will play with soil more. I have to plants (acupulco gold) in soil now that I am struggling with. So far though, the hydro has actually been easier for me. Right now though I am out of space until I am done with these 3 ladies.

That air stone is a good advice Arriba|nullxnull, roots love oxygen and you could keep water longer … beer3|nullxnull

If I keep doing hydro, I will get a pump and stones for sure.

So, I am still a beginner. I am in a FB group (private) run by the grower I got my beans from. I shared grow pics and he spotted nitrogen toxicity before I did.
Two days later it was obvious. Last night I did not have my phone in the basement and cut the worst branch and a couple leaves out.

Here it is today. I topped off the rez to dilute the nutes, and will most likely change the water tomorrow. If anyone else has advice, I am all ears.

You can really see it in this pic.

its worth the thirty or so bucks to get an air pump and an air stone in my opinion.

my DWC runs have been up and down, but the potential is great. my best run was one of my earliest, QP of primo bud from an autoflower with a cheap light in like 90 days all in.

hardest thing for me is getting the nutrients correct, I always wanna over nute.

Right on, find something that works for you and go with it! Killer roots on those weeds :call_me_hand:

Here are the roots today. They look nice!

I haven’t been monitoring water temps. Air temps are steady high 60s to low 70s.
For this I’m not watching pH too much either.
I’m using CES nutes which are supposed to pH balance already.
