First Trip With Lampiao Extraterrestre - First Grow Act 1

THE BEGINNING
Yo Famy, the start of my journey in cultivation has finally arrived! Welcome to my first grow journal. Before we get started, just wanna make it clear that this space is totally open for contributions, info sharing, opinions, advice, and all that good stuff…

O Início de tudo!
The beginning of evrything

Grab a seat, here comes the story. I started with cannabis and drugs pretty young, at 13, mostly through street culture and rap, and that kind of stuck with me as I grew older. Fast forward a bit, marijuana started messing with my cognitive performance in certain situations, especially with procrastination. I’m usually more extroverted, but even that started to change over time. Anyway… I found myself in this crazy moment of change, looking for purpose, dealing with professional stuff, learning, reading, life in general. So, I decided to take a whole year off from consuming our beloved plant (at 21). That was super challenging, but in the end, it was really good for me because I got to reconnect with things I had buried and, beyond that, I learned to handle my addictions a lot better and understood how the substance works in our brain. I used to think that since we have endocannabinoid receptors, it meant our bodies were “designed” to take cannabis. But I really began to understand how harmful this can be for teenagers and kids (talking about excessive recreational use).

In the flower Race!

It was a real eye-opener, honestly. Taking that year off helped me see how much I had been using cannabis to escape and numb things, instead of facing them. It wasn’t just about getting high—it was about avoiding discomfort, and that’s something I had to confront. I got to know myself way better during that time. It also helped me realize that the whole “we’re built for cannabis” idea is more complicated than I thought. Just because our bodies have receptors for it, doesn’t mean we should overload them. And with the whole teen and child thing—if you start using too early, it can mess with your brain development in ways that are hard to reverse.

So, yeah, I came out of that year feeling a lot clearer, more grounded, and with a better understanding of how things like cannabis can affect us long-term. It was a journey of self-discovery, and even though it was tough, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I’ve already ventured into the world of extractions for the illegal market, and that’s when I started seeking more knowledge, and it kept narrowing down until I ended up here in OG. After trying multiple times to make the famous ice plate lol, I realized that I could evolve in equipment and technique, but without good material, I would never reach maximum quality. Years went by, then I joined here, and from there it was all about growth—understanding genetics is another path, especially here in Brazil, where we don’t have access, and when we do, it’s always someone trying to profit off corruption, and dishonesty still rules many of our areas. But we are here to spread goodness and information, both for the community and for new growers. I hope to contribute a lot because I was very well received here and grateful to meet people, stories, and lives behind a nickname, a few letters, and profile pictures. You are all giants, and this is the beginning of my journey.

THE GROW
Let’s talk plants, shall we?
I started my learning journey a few months ago and was super excited to begin. I spent a whole year just studying, reading, and everything else. In the last few months, when I started setting up my grow, I just stopped studying because I had this strange feeling. I think it was the right time to get my hands dirty and learn as I go. So, my notes and studies brought me here, to the point where I had my complete setup and was ready to start. I bought everything little by little.

Let’s grow up…

Here we go, my grow will be in a 60x60x160 tent with three 15-liter pots in organic soil. I’ve noticed that in organic soil, it’s always better to have a bigger pot, but I’m planning to supplement with compost tea and other things depending on the need. I bought all the soil items first because of time and second because of my lack of knowledge. My climate is very tropical and humid all year round. I plan to control the VPD, RH, and temperature with what I have, increase ventilation, exhaust, adjust the LED activation cycle, defoliate, manage IPM, and so on. I don’t have AC or a dehumidifier, so I’m betting more and more on LTIFA. First, because I’m still a noob in handling, so the plant will have to figure it out and survive my newbie mishaps. And second, because this will force me to grow strong genetics that literally take care of themselves—resistant to mold and all that jazz. I’ll put a lot of effort into LST to get more of a feel for things at the start, and I’m thinking of not opting for top or fim pruning to avoid stress and slow recovery (but we’ll see how it goes, feel-wise). Maybe top pruning will be welcome to branch out more and prevent buds. Right now, I’m not too worried about my preferences, I just want to make it happen. I like something more on the sativa side with strong highs, but since I’m growing, I want to experiment with whatever I can. I’m keeping an eye on overwatering, the villain that haunts beginners, and possible pests and mold. Let’s see how this all plays out in real life. My goal is to harvest this year, and if I can avoid big mistakes and screw-ups, maybe that’s even possible.

GENETICS
Thankfully, OG exists, and by studying and interacting with the community, I managed to get access to some interesting genetics. Below is my genetics book, and they are listed in the order I received them. I also know the importance of cultivating the same genetics for at least one more cycle, but I’m doing it differently—each cycle, I’ll grow a different genetic (I want to have as many scenarios as possible). Additionally, the chronological order of receipt will match the order of cultivation.
The book is still a work in progress, and if anyone wants to write or be a part of it, feel free to send a PageDibs. This is the famous BookDib’s.

And that’s all for today, folks! More updates coming soon. Let’s trip!

ORGANIC SOIL
As mentioned above, all my soil was purchased from a Brazilian brand called Zion Farm, primarily to avoid wasting energy on separate purchases and to avoid cross-referencing information that could hinder development.

The soil recipe is:

  • Base Soil Mix (peat + compost + aeration) – 25 L
  • Azomite – 500 g
  • Potassium Silicate – 500 g
  • Kelp Meal – 500 g
  • EM-1 (Effective Microorganisms solution) – 250 ml
  • Bokashi Bran – 1 kg
  • Biochar – 500 g
  • Worm Castings (EWC) – 1 kg
  • Chicken Manure (composted/pelleted) – 1 kg
  • Rock Phosphate – 500 g
  • Castor Meal – 1 kg
  • Aloe Vera Extract (saponin-rich) – 250 ml
  • Humic Acid Powder – 25 g
  • Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate) – 500 g

Base soil:

  • Peat Moss
  • Coco Coir
  • Perlite
  • Carbonized Rice Hulls (Rice Husk Biochar)
  • Worm Castings (EWC)
  • Sheep Manure (composted)

KNF Inputs

  • FPE aloe vera
  • ME

ET’s like to work with soil, so this was quite satisfying.

WATERING AND SOIL REST

After all the assembly work, we move on to irrigation. Based on what I saw in the standard readings, I used 10% to 20% of the pot’s level for the first watering, then setting it to 5% to 10%.

the soil started fermenting and I saw the formation of mycelium, I incorporated it into the surface layer and it is already completing its rest days

VEGA TIME
September 6th is marked as the first day of vega, 3 were chosen for each pot and I also added another one as a backup species.

they all put their cotyledons out and so far following…

VEGA TIME update 1

We’ve reached a week of the girls’ lives. Here are the updates:

In the meantime, with the grow room turned off, my mini fan let me down. I had to invest in another one soon for maintenance. Another air intake would be perfect.

With the girls and boys, I felt that in the first few days, things started to get better, but over the week, things stagnated. I left the light at 150 ppfd at 30 cm. I was afraid to increase it, but I gradually increased it, and now it’s at 250/300 ppfd.

I felt that after a brief watering, and after noticing slower growth, I felt they didn’t like it very much, and I’m finally deciding that they’re starting out a bit slow.

I currently have the exhaust and ventilation turned off, as high humidity at the beginning could make sense.

It’s worth mentioning that I started with just the base soil, since my living soil is resting.

We already know that the genetics are blue Afghani f3, so from now on we’ll always treat them as #1, #2, #3.

This is #1. I felt she was the one that felt the brief watering the most. She’s a little sad.

They followed the ascending order very well, and #2 is average.

And #3 is the one that has developed the most

I used my new ventilation system thinking about strengthening the branches and lowering the temperature further.

I attribute the problem to a few things. The first may have been the wrong watering. I used 50ml of water for 500ml and even weighed the pots, but I might not have needed it.

The other issue was the light. I was afraid to add 200 ppfd. I started with 100 and almost reached 300. Now I’ve lowered it a bit. It should be around 200/250. I’ll avoid messing around now and come back in another week for updates.

VEGA TIME update 2

So, let’s get to another Vega update, and this one I’m a little thoughtful…

We have two weeks left.
Week 1: September 13th
Week 2: September 20th

First, comparing myself to other results, I noticed that my growth is slowing down. However, I already knew this because I have little knowledge and am more susceptible to mistakes and everything…

However, I don’t want to torture myself, but rather learn from this. As I said above, the seedlings are in base soil.
Base soil:

Peat Moss
Coco Coir
Perlite
Carbonized Rice Hulls (Rice Husk Biochar)
Worm Castings (EWC)
Sheep Manure (composted)

My humidity is high as always, a factor that may have also slowed it down, ranging from 80% to 93%.

Things I did to try to change this slow growth:

Increase and decrease the PPFD, increase and decrease the LED height, Add exhaust, water more, water less, I’m like Frankenstein, lol. Increase the air intake.

I have a feeling it might be the nutrients, and I want to add an FPE supplement with meth and humic extract, but I don’t know yet. Some plants are sad, and the backup seedling has roots, but deep down. Any tips?

Save bro, I believe it is soil with few nutrients, plants are not able to develop.

thanks brother, let’s try to make it happen heheh

I’m thinking about this too, but I don’t know if I should make a mini-dilute of some nutrients in water, but to water with a syringe, I’d make 500ml of a mixture, but put about 50ml less in each cup.

What I’m thinking now is to add what I said, fpe, me is humic extract, but I have other nutrients here too.

That becomes a question too. I know they use this a lot with aerated tea, oxygenating and such, but even if I lychee and don’t dilute it completely, wouldn’t it give the babies a little gas?
