I used fish shit up until recently, it’s good but $$$ to run.
Would this be a good alternative?
Npk close to fs?
When are you supposed to use fish shit and how much? I got a sample bottle last grow and never used it
Fish sh!t has no usable npk, according to the manufacturer, and is fish poo harvested, with all the bacterias and stuff. Fish hydrolysate is bodies and bones ground up and stabilized with phosphorus acid and is considered a fertilizer
Daily during veg and flower, 2 tsp per 5 gallons is what I used.
Oh ok, I’ll get more then, just wish it was cheaper. Might only use it flower honestly.
There is another one called concentrated fish poop for 70 for a gallon but I have no experience with that one but I would expect it to be similar.
$70 FOR A GALLON? I’m in the wrong fuckin’ business!
And apparently I should be using the mulm from my aquariums in my garden more often. ![]()
It looks like fish shit is 300 a gallon, ya I would start selling mulm lol
Yeah wouldnt aquarium water be about the same thing as fish sh!t ? It sure is expensive
Not really, I think fish shit is pretty well packed with actual shit (mulm). Just the water wouldn’t have much bacteria or anything else of value in it, I don’t think.
That’s dope that people are getting that much for it. Unfortunately I have a ton of shrimp and snails and pretty much all waste in my tanks gets picked through and filtered out. With just squeezies from the filters, I don’t think I could get even close to a gallon, even from 6 aquariums. ![]()
Probably enough for myself to use, though. Definitely gotta do that more.
Fish Shit is not so much about the fertilizer aspect, it is about the microbes. I use to use the stuff back in the day and it surly stinks. I haven’t done direct microscopy on the stuff since I have graduated from The Soil Foodweb School. However, it smells like anaerobic garbage.
In the past year I found out about Fish Brew. It is a similar product to Fish Shit but far superior. It is loaded with a ton of different microorganisms. It’s got bacteria, Protozoa, diatoms, and so many other little fellas. The same company also sells some bomb fish hyrolasate if you’re looking for some food for your plants.
Adding microbiology to your containers is a game changer. If you like terps, flavonoids, and secondary metabolites, microbes are the way. I would highly suggest listening to The Soil Matters with Leighton Morrison. Also, the episodes if Leighton Morrison on Shaping Fire have life changing information in them.
Good luck on your garden and always remember that it is all about the biology.
So could I take the goldfish poop from my daughter gold fish kinda poop? Cause ive never used it. The sample just sit there.
Thanks a lot, I made the switch.
That is so easy to make yourself.
My grow costs have plummeted, using the recipes from this site.
LAB’s, profoundly excellent and pennies on the dollar.
If you use gold fish poop from cleaning out the fish bowl, be careful of the ammonia in the water also.
Cool thanks @webeblzr !!
remember them when they were on Shark Tank (Fish Shit)
Most welcome!
In my area, there are a good bit of trash fish not that any fish are trash at all.
They are looked upon as that way by people that fish for trout bass, pike, walleye, sauger, muski’s.
Suckers, a great bait for muski, and some streams get over loaded with them.
Carp, are not native to us, and they also take over some of stream, creeks around me.
So I feel no remorse, taking a few suckers for my garden soil biology.
I have so many things rocking right now, I keep pushing fish hydrolase to the back burner, so to speak.
I’ll be adding kelp and alfalfa, to my future FH, bucket, as they are perfect garden composters, and will make short work, of a dozen or so suckers/carp, that fall into a bucket of ice, making them sleep forever.
You’ll love the results.
If you want to turn your kelp and alfalfa into biological gold I’d suggest submerging them into EM. You can brew a 5 gallon bucket of EM with a mother culture and add in as much alfalfa and kelp as you like. After a few weeks the EM will be expanded and you can strain out the material from the liquid. Keep the strained material in a bucket and use it as a top dress (essentially this is a type of bokashi). The liquid EM can then be added to your watering routine. This method will help bring out the utmost health of your soil and plants.
Just my 2 cents
