So I’m having a problem here. I’m in the position where I have to cull some seedlings. But it’s too early to really tell anything.

Ordinarily I’d cull something stretchy like this:

It’s got stretchy genes in it and I don’t want unruly plants this time around.

Also males tend to express like this more often IME so that affects my decision too.

I’m after squatter plants like this:

I don’t need to make these decisions yet but it will still be a problem a week from now.

It’ll be fine. I just see the future and it’s a crapshoot.

Always difficult for me. I’ve had some bangers come from the worst plants in veg.

If I can’t keep a plant happy in veg it goes. I can’t chase my tail the whole grow. It sucks.

It would be easier if there were obvious losers but everything is happy and healthy.

How many do you need to cull?

Probably half of them will need to go.

Maybe they’ll express a little more before I make the chop decisions so there’s still that. I’m not out of space/time yet but I soon will be.

Shit might go sideways on me.

I knew that travel and growing might not be able to coexist this summer.

I might have to shutdown or pivot radically.

Fortunately I’ve got lots of these beans so if I have to shut it down it’s no big loss except my labour.

I’m not happy about it though.

Dude. :sob:

What’s goin’ on?

Mostly it’s my level of comfort/anxiety.

I really don’t like leaving my lights on when I’m not there for any extended period of time. And I’m not rigging up an irrigation system.

As of now in the next three months I’m going away for a week at least twice, maybe three times before this cycle is finished.

In veg, now, I could figure it out but when I go to Texas mid flower it’s going to be a serious problem to the point that it might not be worth it.

I knew this was going to happen. But I had a jones to grow. My main light hasn’t been on since December.

Maybe I can look at the positive and say that I’m just skipping powdery mildew season.

you could automate a flood system with a timer and a waterpump but I get ya. Or leave them outdoors with your shredded t-shirt bucket system just to see what happens?!

Or, just throw caution to the wind, trust the equipment and leave the lights on! I leave for 2 weeks at a time with automated watering

You could run a capillary mat and have the seedling tray ontop which should wick water up as needed. Also what about getting a wifi plug in that you could control remotely to provide you the sense of control

I understand completely ! Thats why I never grew indoors. I was always afraid that it would catch fire and get me busted.
