Fort Portal Uganda strainhunt with @kidete

Some of you have followed along on the two previous OG sourced strainhunt adventures of @Kidete, from East Africa Genes seed co.
The first trip, to Kinshasa, DRC, yielded a rare Angolan strain from the Eastern border with ( drc)Congo.
The second trip, to Goma, DRC, on the Rwandan border, yielded 2 Pygmy strains, at least one of which, from Masisi, is the much coveted and nearly mythical variety known as Black Magic or Black African Magic. Not much is yet known about the other variety, from Rutshuru.
This third trip is to Fort Portal, Uganda, located in the Western part of Uganda, West/Northwest of Lake Victoria, and situated very close to the Iturie Forest homebase of the Pygmys, which is West, and near to the famous Rwenzori Mountains, which exceed 16,000 feet.

Rwenzori Mountains - Google Search. Located Southeast of Fort Portal is Kibale National Park, known for its large Monkey population, and a very large inhabited swamp. Google Search
Queen Elizabeth National Park Google Search is a bit further south from there. Should be some GREAT strainhunting opportunities for Mike, owner of East Africa Genes.
We need another few donors to get this trip on the road. There are 25 of 30 slots now filled, and 5 slots still available. Heres the details
@Kidete can you paste your proposal here?

If you feel helpless, watching the continued decimation of Earth’s Landrace Cannabis Genepools, here is where you can make a real difference. Someday the supporters of these strain hunts will look back with pride, knowing they helped discover and catalog something unknown and rare.

  • Incase I find 2 or more strains, I will send them to the donors just like I did with the Goma trip. I had mentioned that each donor will receive 15 seeds per strainthat I will find in Uganda.
  • Similar to last time, I will forward you the seeds to reproduce incase I won’t find enough to give 15 seeds per strain to each donor.
  • Incase I only find one strain, I’ll let the donors choose another strain among the following (Ethiopian, Malawi or Central Kenya) The extra pack will include 15 seeds
  • If I manage to get a couple of good Ugandan landrace strains and enough seeds to make sure each donor receives 15 each, I will sell the remaining ones exclusively to the donors. The money helps me to cover postage fees

We need as many trips like this as possible to get a greater understanding of African cannabis as now, there is too much misinformation. Think of what partnering with a genetic testing lab could do to finding the heritage of some of this stuff? Get the stuff first and then later on connect the dots of lineage.

Much better than random stories mistranslated to someone 50+ years ago.

That would be pretty awesome. Too bad there wasn’t a nonprofit Doing genetic testing. I mean a real non profit. Phylos Probably ruined anything like that ever actually happening.
I would love to see if some of my theories about ancestry are correct or close. There would certainly be some surprises that’s for sure. Results that nobody saw coming. The fact is all it Takes is one prolific seed spreading stoner and history changes.

You do not want to defeat yourself before you even start. I’m sure there would be a testing lab somewhere that would work with you because they believed in the cause. I recall a lab working with la times for their recent expose on the California pesticide problem. We could also crowdsource the money to do it. I would chip in to that even though I haven’t for seeds. All of these things could be figured out with enough emails/phone calls and effort similarly required to make posts on this site. Phylos didn’t mess anything up. There are other data sets to work against and many more cannabis genomes have been sequenced since then.

You’re born 160 years to late for this, buddy. But applied genetics don’t existed yet at this time ^^
Let’s call it a win-win.

@Upstate how much is the contribution and how to do it? Pay pal? This type of expedition is necessary to preservertion and further genetics! I would be happy to contribute if it’s on my budget!

Next time if you want people to invest, dont make them wait 5 months to get seeds. If money is an issue to paid for mail, cover that in the cost BEFOREhand. Also, dont ask for money for the next adventure, without FIRST taking care of the previous people who invested… It is bad optics and angers people.

There’s always someone who isn’t happy no matter how good we have it. Everything has gone off perfectly since the beginning of his expeditions. Some people will be put off by the wait but considering what we’re getting it’s worth it for most. Almost 30 people have decided to take a chance and that’s all we need! Let the hunt begin!

No I am a patient person, but waiting 5 months to get seeds, when I was the first person to put up money is bs… I am not that type person. I am also not the only one mad, its just only I got the BALLS to say it…
Several others who will go unnamed have voiced the same opinion so some of you can skunk me all you want, its not right. I wanted to go in on this trip, but i decided to pass after the experience from the last…

I don’t know man. I’ve lost $80 in a night on seed raffles and didn’t have anything to show for it. Ordered hundreds of dollars worth of seeds from reputable sources and they never showed up. Anytime I get my seeds no matter how long it takes I consider that a win.

It seems there have been many happy people who participated in the group buys already. Before that, people ordered from his website.

Fuck that. I expect to get what I paid for in a reasonable amount of time. That is not asking too much.

He explained that it’s not safe for him to mail out a lot of packages at a time. It could bring unwanted attention to his business. So he spreads it out to make it look less suspicious. We all have to wait for the process. I think you can request priority if you’re in a hurry next time. It’s not too late to get in. Probably one or two spots still available!
