When I get home the little man wannabe is getting composted. He can feed his outdoor sisters and cousins for the upcoming season. After chatting with Backyardboogie he injected some good words that helped me make the decision to do this. Im not aiming to make unstable crosses so not leaving it an open invitation. Onto exploring more plants and popping more beans.

Just a photo dump

These are all coming to and end within 2 weeks. The Skull Fuk and the Afghani auto will coming down in24 hrs and the Purple Romulan and CripXmas A2 #1-2 near that end of that and well as Spencers Gift. The flowering timelines of these plants are as follows.
Spencer’s Gift: 106 DoF
Skull Fuk: 78
Afghani auto: 67
Purple Romulan: 44
CripXmas A2 #1-2: 44

I may let Skull Fuk go a couple more days but shes looking pretty done and I just noticed this morning in 1 of the flower site it was starting to push out a couple green male nanners. So its signaling me its done.

I have a couple BoG Lifesavers x Double Grape auto in my 4x8. Sitting in the final shoes 1gal. Right now they’re pushing the veg very aggressively. Each time I look in the tent there different. I forgot just how fast they grow. The roots just started to poke out the drain holes and pulling a good amount of water from their wicking bases every couple days. Once I placed the wicks in place its like a switch flipped and woke up the beasts inside them!!
@BRMTreefarmer

Slight differences on leaf structure which is cool. Can’t wait to see what’s coming from them

I was at the dollar store and noticed a waste basket and grabbed one to try out in the tent. If I had to guess its between a 2-3 gallon with tons of holes for breathing

I hope it’ll work out but wont know till I try. I like that its quite rigid and square just for ease of getting plants into the tent

That’s great!
Are you going to use as is or drill a few holes in the bottom?

Im unsure on that part as I was tossing the idea around about either running 4 or 6 wicks into the base or trim off the bottom and zap strapping in a felt base so I can have the whole base wick. Any suggestions or insights @Gpaw

Looks good, I bet you can grow monsters in that bin … might be a bit big on resources though :slightly_smiling_face:

I was thinking the same @globalhead more of a curiosity but could be a good thing. I could cut it in half to shorten it up and tie felt to the bottom and use that to wick up the water and a second bin. Water can only wick up so far due to it’s capillary rise limit or capillary break so this is something to consider. I also saw something on @defharo page about modifying the holes pushing the holes inward to keep water from leaking outwards as freely. This was something I had thought of doing with this bin

I’ve no experience with wicks but I like that idea and being from the dollar store it won’t ‘break the bank’ to experiment a little.
If I was running soil in it I’d probably drill a couple holes but with holes on the side running from the top to the bottom extra holes might not be necessary.

What are the physical dimensions of that pot?

I’m not hole right now but I believe its either 9"x9" or 10"x10".

I think If I heated up a tip on either a masonry nail or a spiral shank nail I could take advantage of the design to help direct water flow a bit. @defharo has a talent for describing his process and effeorts

Surface tension etc I believe plays into it. Great idea about making something… fit.
So it leaves a history lol

@MissinBissin, I had been doing some reading on this and if you have a small base but very wide upper half but staying within the confines of water tension and capillary rise limit you can push you roots wider splaying them outwards creating a more stable base to anchor the plants better to support larger plants. When I was looking at your pictures from OG row that you had leaned the plants at an angle promoting this exact thing

We went with the Mojo… and height becomes an issue at a certain point.
The plant picked right-up on it though. Zero issue

No matter how discreet the garden is from the road :teapot: :coffee: pip pip n all

Its also why I’m liking the whole raised bed-gig, No limits.

Might not need to do that…I make much bigger holes in my pots and find after a few waterings everything settles in and there is no water coming from the sides :slightly_smiling_face:
