I have never used Strawberry Fields but I have checked it out at the store a few times and I noticed that Strawberry Fields is very similar to Ocean Forest but seemingly not as “hot.” If you compare the bags, the soil is amended with many of the same ingredients, with Strawberry Fields having lime and coco fiber, but lacking in the crab/kelp/shrimp meal fish emulsion that Ocean Forest has, making it less likely to nute burn young plants and clones.

Soil particles are negatively charged and attract positively charged molecules such as nutrients, water, herbicides and other soil amendments, and it’s ability to react with these molecules is called the cation exchange capacity.

Coco has a very low cation exchange capacity, and since Strawberry Fields is partially coco based, it will naturally require more feeding due to its lower exchange capacity. Although they add lime to Strawberry Fields to help with this, I would imagine that additional calcium and magnesium will help it increase it’s exchange capacity as well.
