Naaahhh, those are Cannagars, THESE are Thai Stix
And even a few fermented ones at that!
Very cool. Always more to learn. Not just any Thai sticks fermented Thai sticks!
I’m going to ask how at some point!
How does the fermentation ones taste
COBs are awesome !
I made a few years ago, and It became one of my favorites. This plant is so amazing
It takes some patience, but it is definitely worth the high when you do.
To be honest…not that special! Now there are a ton of factors at play, I wrapped them very late, already down at 62% humidity, then it was another week before I had time to do the corn husk wrapping. This was bro science at it’s finest! I’ve said before, how many times does a guy get a chance to play around with a jar full of Thai Stix? Gotta go for it! I think the species of fungi and bacteria causing the fermentation will probably strongly influence any imparted flavors…looks like a very deep hole!
I can really see how on the African plains with no Grove Bag outlets in site, this could be a great way to preserve your stash under the harshest of conditions. The fermented stick feels/looks like a piece of black licorice that got left out for a month or two! Pretty indestructable, except for fire! The surface is ‘slick’ (he’ll be here any minute!) with the veining of the corn husk imprinted into the compressed budmass. But forget about crumbling up a little with your fingers for a quick doobie! I guess m’be the Africans just pound it between two rocks?
I’ve tried, really, I’ve tried to test it out for a taste test/report…but I seem to get so stoned I forget I’m testing and before I know it I’ve tried 4 strains of bud, 2 of hash, the fermented stix, the regular stix… Really, I’ll keep trying…for the Science, y’know!
Oh damn man. Did you try it as a chew ?
I honestly haven’t tried to smoke it yet. When I was reading the history and instructions on how to make it, all thing pointed to chewing it.
But yes, it’s important to plan ahead for it as you want it as fresh as you can get it before the process.
I wrapped mine maybe a day after harvest. Placed them under a container as they sat on a heat pad at around 160…ish…I think.
But after about 12+/- hours of that, I then tightly wrapped them in corn husks with hemp wrap.
I made a vacuum sealable mason jar by drilling a hole in the top, and siliconed an air valve for a tire in the hole.
Next I took apart a bike pump and reversed the insides so it drew air instead of pushing it.
Placed a copper BB in the air valve, and placed all my wrapped cobs inside before pumping all the air out. The BB stopped any air from coming back out as it wedged up against the valves hole from the vacuum pressure.
Then I let that sit in the dark for around 3 months before trying a small piece and it fed me up lol
Even more so after 6 months, and it was even better after a full year in the sealed jar.
A piece maybe the size of two pencil earasers was enough to wreck me for about 6 - 8 hours, with a come down of about 2.
I chewed the pieces on an empty stomach and kept chewing till the piece disintegrated.
The high was kinda close to an MDMA euphoria. Like waves of pleasure. At least with the Sativa strain I used.
The Indica strain was more of a nice body high without the pleasure effect, but like a good joints worth of smoke for around 6 hours.
I really hope you try this again, it does take time, but if you do the right way there is nothing like it.
Hey @DougDawson could you please have my name removed from the call list I’d appreciate it and thanks again for your support and uplighting vibes time to take a step back and enjoy the show
Those are gorgeous. Totally well-done Bro
This is all great @HappyTrees23s Thanks! I hadn’t even considered ‘eating’ them! That would make more sense, they’re so tough it’d be like eating good beef jerky - you couldn’t possibly overdo it, at least not with my teeth!
@MissinBissin Thanks! The coolest part is you can use up every little budlet & bits of larf you’ve got left over and it comes out great! We got hit hard by monsoon & budrot, losing probably 70% of all the top colas of the Apricot strain but there were a ton of small buds and we used 'em ALL up on the sticks!
Thats a $elling-point right there @Tlander. A LARF accelerator
I love it! Maybe I can become the “Larf Accelerator Guy”! (He’s nothing like “The Pillow Guy”!)
In Thai language the number 5 is pronounced as “Haa!”, so whenever Thai’s want to express laughter they just type “555!” I keep catching myself doing it on OG and people think I’m transmitting in code!
555 Thanks for sharing L.A.G.
You cob curing???
I guess so! - insert funny hands up emoji here -
Lmao… it looks amazing… great job bro!!!
I’d love to get my hands on one of those logs lol
555! I wish I could just send you one! Things are getting more lax, but not there yet! It was fun trying to get consistency on the diameter of the sticks! First couple were given a funny name, which unfortunately political correctness demands shall never be uttered aloud or in writing again!
My housekeeper who hails from the same region as the originals, while way too young to actually have experienced the real things, never-the-less turned out to be the Pro on the team! In Thailand you can buy ‘anything’ on a stick; fruit, fish, lobster, insects, you name it! So packaging your ‘carry around’ bud this way makes sense! Then it spins off into the whole fermentation process with hundreds of little twists and turns involving microorganism species and their nutrition! As I said, a deeeep rabbit hole! But I got seeds to transplant and it’s 10:30 pm here!
Carry on crew, see ya tomorrow!
Looks excellent love to find one of those in my mail box . Hint hint
“Thai stick you know the weed that was tied to stick.” Cheech Marion up in smoke lol I haven’t seen the movie for 20+ years but I believe that’s the line.
I never had the opportunity to try the original Thai stick.
Weed on a stick then sprayed with opium and wrapped in paper.
That’s what we call chocolate Thai stick back in the 90’s .
