Like everything else its all practice and procedure. Art is a series of corrections until you are happy there is nothing left to correct
That is some very nice artwork there! As a carver of turquoise, I can and do, appreciate the talent!
We’d love e to see some of that @JohnnyPotseed
Yeah, let us see some of that!
I’ve posted a few pics before that are on the computer, but rather than hunt for them on the mant posts I’ve done on OG lol here’s a couple for ya
I really dig the feather one. Nice job
thnx, I’ve yet in all my years to have someone ask if I can carve them something and not be able to make them very happy
edit… Silversmith and gemstone carver was one of the things I did traveling around the country. We’d set up a stand at pow wows, rodeos, tractor pulls, county fairs, flea markets…you name it lol
Do you use a dremel to carve with? I have been known todo a little power carving on tree branches and logs. I like the wood spirit carvings.
I have a couple of dremel as well as Foredoms, with flex shafts and I use diamond dental bits
also the foot pedals
edit… then I mount a lot of the work… usually in silver, but do gold also
Its a cool hobby. I just dont have enuff spare time right now to devote to carving.
That turqoise heart with the twisted silver is very nice work.
lol it’s not a hobby. I’m 3rd gen silversmith and gemstone carver, taught by my grampa and pop. We owned, and still do own, a business doing this. It’s supported my family for many years. I also owned a construction company (now shut down)also 3rd gen family biz, as well as the growing all over the country lol
Outstanding! Thanks for sharing.
A man of many talents!
thanks for the kind word! I always have enjoyed doing the silversmithing and carving
Dam dude. You wear more hats than anyone I know. Kinda makes me look like Master of none.
Will the turquoise blade hold an edge or is the piece strictly ornamental? Forgive me if that’s a silly question but I don’t know much about geology.
Looks fantastic at any rate, great stuff
strictly ornamental. Turquoise is very brittle, especially larger pieces like that.
or ceremonial even but never to be ‘used’ as an actual knife!
Airbrush! Wow man that impressive. I didn’t know that much detail could be done with those. Nice work!
