I mean. The cult following you have it could get crazy.
of course I would do that
, but since I already have a pack of Blue Afghan, you won’t get mine, hehe. But if you make other packs available, you’ll receive it, hahahaha.
Hmmmm… could be worth it ![]()
Tiny Tim looks like an Eastern Painted turtle…
Cheers
G
You are correct Sir. We have snapping turtles, soft shelled turtles,
and Eastern painted turtles also called sliders. We’ve also seen some very cool Eastern Box turtles when walking through our woods. We’ve only seen them twice, but they are gorgeous. My wife took a picture of a Branding’s turtle the other day when she saw one crossing the dirt road we live on.
The big soft shell turtle that we see on occasion in our pond is huge. I’m guessing 3 foot long tip to tip. She’s probably older than I am. We have a couple of snappers in the pond that are around 20 lbs and one that’s close to 30 lbs.
Here is Nessie which is the name we gave the huge soft shell turtle.
If you look closely at this pic, you can see Nessie following behind a large Eastern Painted Turtle.
Here is a crappy pic of a Branding’s turtle. Endangered.
Snapping turtles lay their eggs and then walk away. Their parental duties are done once they’ve dug the hole, laid the eggs, and then filled in the hole.
Depending on weather and temps, 75 to 95 days later the turtles hatch and instinctively head toward the water. That could be a swamp, marsh, pond, lake, creek, stream, or river. I believe they can smell the water and start their journey to find it.
Of all the turtles in our pond, Tiny Tim was the first new born painted turtle I’ve seen in 8 years here. Lot’s of different year classes, but rarely do we see the ones that are just an inch or two long.
Some different year classes in this pic.
Weee!

I’m going to start camping here 24 hours a day
I do believe box turtles travel in pairs, by crossing each others scent trails. Thus its important to resist the urge to pick them up when you see them and / or move them around breaking thier trail and possibly causing them to lose thier mates. Imo only of course.
I had 2 box turtles lay eggs in my garden last year. They are common in the woods around my house
We will purposely stop traffic to let one cross the road, much to the chagrin of those we stopped with out stretched hand. Sadly, too many are not aware of this, and that letting them cross a road on their own accord is the only way for them to follow a scent.
If you just put the thread on “watching”
or whatever, you’ll get one real soon. ![]()
We don’t get em here I’ve only seen pet ones cool to see some wild ones apparently terrapins can be found certain bits of England where folks released em but Scotland’s too cold we only get a few lizards slow worms and the European adder as far as reptiles/turtles go we ain’t got much
There are 6 that live in my yard. They get really active running all over hunting worms whenever it’s raining. Never seen any eggs or babies, though.
That looks like an infestation
My son had a tortoise. That didn’t last long.
