This is the fixture that brought me into the fold of using leds. For the prior 40 plus years, I was using 1000w MH and HPS Hortilux lamps in my lense covered, through vent design. I did very well with these 1000w fixtures. From the early 80’s through the mid nineties, it was a vertically hung lamp with a curved reflector on top.

My present grow is my first with leds. I had to dial back the driver to
70% while in veg, as they were too bright. I’ve since dialed them up to almost 100% now that the lights have been cut back to 13’s.

This fixture fits perfect in my 4x4. Mammoth claims that the green spectrum penetrates the canopy better than the other lights in the spectrum.

This is a quote from Mammoth on the green diodes.

“On to Green: Many believe the plant reflects this color. The facts are - green is photosynthetic although less so than other colors at low PPFD levels but MORE so at higher PPFD levels due to its deeper leaf penetration properties. See the graphs - With medical plants requiring high PPFD - wouldn’t it make sense to include a good portion of green in the spectrum like nature? We have now!”

So far, I’m very impressed, as well as a 25% reduction in my electric bill.

I also added an extension cord when I ordered for the driver so that I could have it located outside the tent. I thought the heat might be an issue. It is not.

I did not need to buy the 12 foot extension cord as the driver only gets slightly warm. Save the extra $30 for the extension cord as it is not needed.

Another study from Mammoth suggests better harvest and bud production occurs with 13 hours instead of the 12 I had been using
since I started growing indoors many moons ago. I’m trying it this run but will not be able to do a true comparison, as I’ve not run a duplicate run using 12’s.

They have more coming, but are presently sold out on the black Friday pre-order sale of these 880w fixtures.

When I was shopping for an led fixture, my search narrowed down the field to three brands. Gravita, Scorpion, and Mammoth.
Mammoth won, primarily because it was cheaper, but also equally comparable to the other two in PPDF levels.

GMO - Day 46 . This strain of GMO is an 84 to 104 day finisher.

I also wanted to thank @Going2fast. These arrived today in the mail and I believe these were one of two inbound seeds I won for saying Dibs. Both were won just a few hours apart. I’m not sure if these came from Going2fast or another family member, but both were won for saying Dibs. I love this place.

Gracious thanks to whomever sent these. I believe it was Going2fast, but I’m not sure. It may have been @DeeRezPoundMaker. I’ll just
thank the both of you because of what both of you do for the community. Heartfelt thanks Gents.

Regarding the freakshow crosses headed your way: they were all mailed last week and some have started arriving. Curiosity got the best of me and I started popping beans to see how many had goofy leaves.

I had no germination after 5 days, so I used a pair of pliers to squeeze the seed along its ridge until it cracked open. The next day, all sprouted taproots & are doing just fine. I think I may have let these go without drying them quite enough first & the seed coat wants to swell and stretch instead of popping open to let the taproot out.

You may want to let them sit out of the flip a few weeks or so before germinating or putting away for storage. I’m going to do some periodic germination tests on the beans I have left to find out when exactly they’re ready for unassisted germination. I’ll send a group DM about this when I get some more data so I don’t shit up the public thread.

If you’ve already received & tried to germinate, don’t give up… they’re not duds! Crack 'em open and they’ll be fine. :+1:

Here are my seed crackers and all around great set of pliers.

Do u squeeze em till hear a Poppin sound or what I’d probably end up smashing em lol thank u for sharing

Sometimes there is a popping sound, sometimes there isn’t. Squeeze just enough to make the seam split open a little.

Those are a fantastic set of pliers, I have some too. They stand by their warranty too, I broke a pair of side cutters that I bought two years ago on Amazon and they replaced them with no questions asked

Thanks for getting the word out, great advice :+1: those are some lovely pliers BTW

You could also use a vise grip pliers. Use the thumb screw at the bottom. It only applies the force of you turning the screw, and it keeps you from putting too much pressure on the seed.
