It’s been quite a battle for me of just over a year. Dr wanted me to lose weight to have hip replacement surgery. Both hips are bone on bone as my bone disease worsens.
I’ve lost 61 pounds now and I just got a phone call…
Hip replacement surgery #1 set for August 12th…
After that heals I get the left side replaced… be walking by Christmas eh…
Goodluck! My dad had his hip replaced about 5 years ago make sure you take it easy and don’t push yourself after!
best of luck dude.
All the best with your upcoming woes!
You will be fine, it’s one of the quickest recoveries. Best
Good luck! My mother in law is in the same predicament. Waiting to set a date for surgery right now.

This is an accomplishment in itself!
My neighbour was walking the day of his hip surgery, where before the surgery it looked like it would be the last time he ever walked. That was a couple years ago, he’s a new man.
You’ve got this, here’s to a speedy recovery!
Prayers and vibes sent brother. I did a knee a couple of years ago and it’s so nice to not walk bone on bone anymore. Here’s to a speedy recovery! peace
You will be ringing in the new year tap dancing it’s looking like
Best of luck and to a speedy recovery.
Wow, thank you my OG family for all your kind words and well wishes… pain for past 10yrs with these hips…
Hope your mother inlaw gets approved soon…mcbudz
I am a former x-ray tech, I quit because of my crohns disease because it was too physical a job for me but I digress. I assume you are will be walking well before Halloween. I have never actually met a patient that regrets it. 90% regret waiting so long. Some actually went back and got their knees done too. I know it is a huge surgery and scary but you are gonna love it once it heals.
Hey Petal… yeah, got bad advice 9yrs ago when my left hip was bad… Dr told me I was too young and take the pain long as I can. Meanwhile favoring my right hip I ground it down. Both hips pop and lock… lol. Hurts bad, right stays swollen and why doing it 1st. Says 6wks recovery… hoping for a nice Thanksgiving and trying to lose 50 more lbs…
Its scaryexciting…
it doesn’t matter what you have replaced they always tell you to lose weight because your recovery from surgery is hard enough as it is.
Wild to read this today-- my grower buddy here just had #2 done today & wishing you both well.
Losing weight is my biggest plus in life … I’m already a big dude. Built like NFL linebacker,
My goal is 225. Weight when I met the wife 35yrs ago… I was ripped… not been under 200 since HS freshman football…LOL…
my health has improved so much already… 126/60 BP when s yr ago 160/90
We are a country of bad eaters becoming lazy fat butts… fast food is the devil.
Thanks again and good luck to us all eh?
My uncle had his replaced on Friday. Something about having the joint cut off the bone and a point being driven into the center with a hammer makes me wince
I’ll likely need a knee replacement at some point in the future myself. That’s something I’m not looking forward to.
