Fyah Selecta's First Grow Diary

Greetings, OG Idren. Been enjoying this forum so thought I’d join along.
Got a couple NLD’s inside and BLD’s out.

Completely open to any input or ideas. I struggle a little with the documentation part so any tips or lens suggestions from those better versed in photography would be especially appreciated.

…Out with the old…

In the process of harvesting this 2.5 x 5 tent and converting the space to a drying room.

“Feel the Rainbow” by James Loud. It’s an RS11 x ZBX

Grown in 5 g. fabric pots with Royal Gold soil. Fed the canna bio line with rhizotonic and boost. In addition it was also watered with compost teas.

Because the teas were all molasses based I started to see issues over time. In the future I’m going to use molasses a lot more sparingly.

Another problem was negative pressure sucking in sidewalls and increasing light intensity dramatically.

Grow wasn’t optimal and herb is boring and poly-hybrid but it smells nice.
Gonna get some clean ripe bud in the jars, so, all-in-all, a successful mission I suppose.

…And in with the new…

Set up this 4 x 4 to do a test run of Sativas in living soil.

Sick of marketing claims and the endless plastic -bottle-peddling of nutrient companies.

Switching entirely to living soil and local inputs. The few things I could not get near me I got from BAS.

The next generation are Malawi from Ace. Week old seedling getting transplanted to .3 g air pot.

For my purposes, I’m unconcerned whether the line is pure, or that it finishes in 11 weeks, or what it yields. I just want a plant with potent Sativa effects…

One of them was planted directly outside with no hardening off or sunlight acclimation.

Looked pretty poor at first but it’s bouncing back. It will be light depped. The other 4 are staying indoors.
Which brings us to today:

28 day old fem seedlings, just transplanted to 5 gallon air pots on day 0 of flowering (13/ 11).

Royal Gold Kings Mix amended with an additional 5% bio-char and BAS 3.0 nutrient kit.

Pots are top-dressed with worm castings, insect frass and fresh ground sprouted barley flour.

They’re under a Gavita LED with supplemental UV lighting at around 800ppfd.

They are kept wet with blumat system and given about 1200 ppm Co2.

Current temp 79°- 81°
Current RH Mid 60%'s
At week 4 they will be transplanted to 15 g fabric pots.

As mentioned, I also have a couple broad leafs growing outside for concentrate.

It’s a mixed lot of CSI genetics: Mendo Purp x Urkle x PCK.

New to forums so hope I’m doin this right.
Thanks to anyone patient enough to follow along.
Will update regularly with future posts.

Bless Up.

Beautiful! Things look super healthy, looking forward to seeing how much you pull from the current run and how the Malawi does with living soil :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey thanks. Really appreciate that. Super excited to be working with landrace sativas moving forward. Haven’t weighed a harvest in a while but I guess I’ll go the whole nine for documentation. Gonna give hash yield percentages on the broadleaf as well.

Grow Update: 4 x4 functioning fine. Not a lot of utility to the new AI controller from AC Infinity. Can only monitor Co2 (for ex.)with tank, even using their own regulator.

Plants are…meh…they are going to go into flowering slowly. They are now on a schedule of 12 hours 45 minutes on/ 11 hours 15 minutes off. Next week 12.5 / 11.5.

Definitely on the LITFA tip for this cycle so keep your fingers crossed.

The best the worst of these Malawi’s.

Been using way more Co2 than I want. I’ve got an exhaust fan on top so RH doesn’t rise above 75° during the dark, but it leaves the tent somewhat open.
Could easily be remedied if I could find a programmable dehumidifier with 6" ducts but so far no luck.

Outside CSI purps looking good. Days have been cooler so getting a little color.

Big population of Lady bugs congregating together, perhaps because of the cold.

I’m having some white fly issues. Its simply not accurate to say “a plant with a 12% brix level is immune to pests”.
I am really restricted by what sprays I can use since this is for concentrate. I, personally, do not believe hash plants should be sprayed, at least with anything containing any amount or type of oil.

This plant is also growing alongside of organic bamboo that I’m growing to help feed the local red panda, so its especially important that it is clean.

Haven’t done much but add some LST clips and top-dressed.

Lastly, Little OD Malawi trodding on. Will start light depping at the beginning of next month.

That is it for me, fam. Thanks for following along.

So, this weeks update is definitely a weird one.

The set up was going okay- bit of an issue with Blumat System, but after talking with Sustainable Village, I’m convinced the problem was user error. They sent a couple trophs, but I think some tinkering and a moisture meter will solve the problem.

With two plants thriving and two suffering, my initial reaction was to chop the smaller plants and let the others fill the space, but…

IDK. It didn’t feel right. I wasn’t excited at all.

No offense to anyone else but waiting 14 weeks for 2 ACE Malawi’s just seemed a little depressing.

Since becoming active online, I’ve had people from places like Jamaica and Brazil reach out to me, who cannot obtain or afford decent genetics.
So, I’ve decided to do a couple seed projects.

This is a purple Afghani that’s been here, in Humboldt, for generations. Gonna take a couple of clones for crosses.

I want to work some lines I’m actually excited about, so I’m thinking Chocolate Thai and Lambsbread.

Fingers crossed, I’ll be back next week with some pictures of seedlings.

Thanks for your time, Idren.
