Geodome grown

Here’s a question: if my ultimate goal is to run and select autos to breed, with an eye toward selling seeds on a small scale commercially (I’ll get to my criteria and why I think I have something to offer later) should I reach out to the breeders whose gear I’m running?

What’s the etiquette here? I mean, everyone who breeds started with someone else’s gear before differentiating their lines, but I don’t want to step on toes. People have done a lot of work and deserve their due.

FWIW, I have a background that makes me uniquely suited for this kind of thing, it’s just never been legal here before so I’m late to the party, as usual.

I am in no way an expert on this subject but … I think the accepted MO is to make your own unique cross and give credit and recognition to the breeders whose genetics you have used. Also, some seed vendors require that you use your own male that you have bred. Im sure that others here will know more or better information. @Fuel @slain @wallyduck

Nice! I like the geo dome a lot! What’s with the thing that looks like an inline fan, connected to the black tubing going down?

Does that just move air around below the leaf canopy?

O my, absolutely great job on the geo home, Ive done alot of reading on them in the past to feed my interests but wont be completely satisfied until I have built one as well, Your doin it right and I thank you for the inspiration , Keep that Guud shit up!!!

Thank you. I planned on giving clear attribution to establish provenance, as I have acquired several varieties of male autos to work with—or do you mean taking a regular photo line and crossing it with an auto to establish male lines that way? From what I’ve seen of NASC breeding their vendor’s seeds, I’m just not sure what is good form.

I’m an academic. I want to cite my sources but there’s no established format!

If you want to avoid buying a kit and design it yourself, saving 10s of thousands, dm me. I’m happy to talk.

It’s a ground air heat transfer system. It makes the soil—it’s got a frost wall I dug myself— thermal mass, releasing heat at night and warming the roots of plants.

It can extend seasons dramatically.

I might have to take you up on that in the future thank you so much, Yours definetly came out nice and your right to have it done for you in my case would set me back to much, but as a diy it all of a sudden becomes attainable for sure

I am not sure how you would do this with autos but with photosensative plants breeding your own male shows that you have done the minimum amount of work. I.E. that you did not just cross other peoples work.

I wouldn’t say you need to “reach out to” a breeder who’s gear you used, but as stated do provide credit to the source. I forget but I think it’s Brisco who specifically cites each parent source “GreenPoint ‘strain a’” x “Jillybean ‘strain b’” for example. I personally love that :+1: it’s more disclosure than you get from most breeders

I also read a pretty cool post once where the people had there geo home close to the house and were able to cycle some warm air thru the house from the green house/geo home early spring /late fall . But i would love to build one of those earth batterys underneath to cycle air thru as well then you can pretty much run it year round

Yeah but exactly what is “your own male” since really, everything starts with someone else’s gear :man_shrugging:

The only thing I can think of in this regard is like how breeders will give their male a nickname that differentiates it from other males of that strain. Mist memorable example is Thug Pug’s “Studly Spewright” male of Mendo Breath :man_shrugging: sure, it was his one male but it was hunted from (i believe) Gage Green work?

20 years ago maybe, today it’s totally useless and you will burn time for nothing. Most of labels you can contact today can’t claim much for real ^^

atm it’s a bit the rat race after a saturation, the smartest make alliances and play collective. Even at bigger levels. If it’s made in this vein, it can be an advantage when you find the right persons.

The etiquette today is limited to write the right pedigree over a storytelling saw one million times elsewhere. Also delivering what is said in the description ^^ So yeah, don’t put too much pressure on something that totally disappeared from the scene. Make allies that have a sense of common interests, instead.

If you’re waiting that any country give you the right to do some breeding in decent conditions, even in a small scale, you’re dreaming awake. Technically, breeding is illegal everywhere by just the number of seeds you have to germinate per round ^^ EU/US same cynicism, they don’t want to reduce too much the shit ton of bribes that repression permit lol

Accept the grey area and deal with it … at the moment you don’t sell weed it’s relatively safe today.

That’s why I asked. This might be a cross this bridge when I come to it sort of thing.

I plan on taking a line I like and bringing it to auto, but I’m not a one iron in the fire kind of guy. I should be able to bring one f1 auto line from last year to an f4 by the end of this growing season, at least.

I didn’t create the line, but they didn’t release an IBL, either. So how much is enough?

My project calendar for this year is quite full of auto x auto and photo x auto crosses. I’ll get there, I guess.

Imaginary problem again, a F2 is an IBL. Stop to crush your mind, the grade of the weed will legitimate (or not) your work.

Good advice, thanks.

That’s the idea. I could’ve done it this year, but I ran out of time last summer and didn’t get to run an underground, insulated water line out. No way I’m carrying water in the cold.
