I have a several acre property about 3 hours from where I live. It is in the part of NorCal that looks like Wyoming(including more than a few of the inhabitants). I would like to put maybe 4 plants up into Juniper trees. Even though it is technically ‘legal’ it has to be on a ‘residential’ property, in a ‘locked’ building, blah blah.
I would like to use a wicking system with a clear hose that can be easily pulled down to replenish the water reservoir. Is a 5 gallon, or 7 gallon bucket my best option?
Would it be an ok idea to put the buckets out in late June after the last frost, maybe pre started to about a foot or so?
How much will there be visible from the difference in the green color?
I have never grown outdoors, and can not allow any ‘mistakes’.
Wait you want to stick your cannabis plants up in a juniper tree? I would worry about critters and adequate sunlight to grow them so might want to rethink that plan. If you want to disguise cannabis plants growing them on the ground with fruits vegetables fragrant flowers complimentary plants sounds like a better idea to me. Prob going to smell and draw more attention up in the air
I tried that about 25 years ago just to see if anyone would notice. It was sort of a feasibility test simply to see if it was a workable means by which to guerilla grow close to my residence.
I had to use a ladder to water/feed the plants, which was a giant PITA. But nobody noticed.
I decided instead to grow plants in containers, intermingled with similar size tomatoes in containers.
This was in my backyard, right out in the open, they were successfully camouflaged. No one ever noticed or questioned them. This was in a very illegal state.
I think critters could be problem, squirrels maybe. Most of the property is not far from looking like range land. I know there are other ‘proper’ growers in the general area, in locked shed on ‘residential’ property. I don’t have that though.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I was thinking of a tube that I could run a dc water pump to fill the reservoir in the bucket wicking system. The neighborhood is an odd mix of most that don’t care, and a few that I don’t want to find out if they care.
You have to check pumps based on head height (how high they can pump water vertically). It’ll take a fair bit of water pressure to get up into a tree. I think there are DC sump pumps that would probably do it.
@MorningStarPurple . It is fun to plan and think about these types of ideas but … It will be better to make it easy on yourself. Plant in the ground using ammended soil that will hold water well. Plant just under the outside edge of the branches so that they get light but also some camoflage. Tie them down and keep the tops lower than the surrounding vegetation. Take a different route to your plants each time so that you do not make a visible path. Dont leave anything in your garden, only the plants.
These rules allowed me to grow pot for 43 years without getting busted. They will help you to not be discovered.
NUMBER 1 RULE OF POT FARMING !!! “NEVER SHOW YOUR PLANTS TO ANYONE !”
When i was a kid back in the 90s we had this Rumor that pine trees gave off a huge amount of the same stuff weed plants gave off in those cameras they used in the drug Helicopters the thing said was it gave off hot spots that you blended your plant in to camouflage …We all used to try the tree thing and i gave up n the climbing the tree we didnt have a ladder and went to planting in the ground under the canopy of the tree in the light but shaded a bit so you couldnt see it from above.I never got a plant ripped by any cop ever.Got hovered on a couple times but no bust so something worked or i got really lucky for doing stupid shit being bad
