Gonnna mmm run it again ummhmm

Landrace Mexican
I’m gonna run upstate’s cryptic lab Oaxacan again this summer. Mother plant is number one

These will be from f2 seeds with upstate’s as the f1s
Number one was a 14 foot plant with Larry type buds not a pearl stem. She was a good clean high no come down or Racy just a sativa high like we had in high school 1977
She produced about five ounces last time and she was bred/pollinated by multiple males from the same stock

I’ll be watching along.

1977 Mex for all it’s criticisms, was so much better than any dispo i’ve had in the last 8 yrs of legal rec weed. I think i have a couple hundred seeds of it, but it’s a later generation, probly 2014. I smoked it, not that good, but it was seedy buds. if u grew females of it, i bet that’d be some damn good stuff.

I like it. It’s don’t knock you out or speed you up. It actually kills my
Minor aches and makes me happy…and probably will let males pollinate it again for another gen

Ok I ran into issues with the first batch as I didn’t clean them and got damp off so ran again and got them in the paper towels and they went too long and I didn’t check so they they got taller than I like. I put them in light soil
Anyway and sprayed them with hydrogen peroxide to keep bacteria down and tonight i had two above dirt!!
I put some More seeds in shot glasses to be sure I have enough for a crop Yah know

Ok I got em goin now
I have 14 above soil
Only one helmet head surgery so far
One attached and had to squirt some hydrogen peroxide on her and pried it off with an knife
Had one stretch so I put some dirt around her long neck
I got em out from under the cfl baby lights and under a LED about a foot away now
Wont be long until they can go outside

yanno wot really bugs me about OG, you can’t sample anybody’s stuff! you’re gonna have a great run. Now i’m not sure as a non-grower, big consumer, how you propagate this stuff. It’s either cuttings or pollen, right? probably pollen’s the best way to go, slower, but better, so i’m not sure i read what you r going to do there to make more seed of this fabulous mexican heirloom smoke. But until u do i say…
BRING BACK THE MEXICAN DIRT WEED! :peace_symbol:

Here’s the mother plant of about 100 or 200 seeds i got:

Tall enuf for ya? Leaves thin enuf? Now just tell me that’s not Mexican sativa landrace? Right there’s the ancestry of my seeds, date of that pic: 9-22-2017. I sprouted them in 2023, got about 20% motility, but i’d say more because i didn’t wait for the rest of the 20 seeds to germ, just took the first 3 sprouts and planted 'em.

Oh yea…
@3bombedmice
I always run them open pollination
Nd have many many seeds from f2 and f3’
I selected the biggest and best producing female this time and although her smoke is not the strongest I will have enough to find a good pheno that produces a lot
Oaxacan one as I called her was about twelve foot tall and lime smell. She produced about five ounces to dried bud
It will get you high without putting you down and or making you paranoid or racy
It’s just good old 70s Mexican weed

@3bombedmice
Is this an old landrace from
Mexico?

i will reiterate wot i’ve said, not sure if in this thread, but that’s the mother plant to some bag seed i got from that neighbor who grew it. that pic is from my back yard to their back yard. They moved here from Cali, i’d guess probably 20 years ago. i took that pick in 2017, 8 yrs ago. They gave me some buds, whether from that or not, i cannot conclude, but i sprouted some in 2023, which you can find in OG’s 420 thread. I will assume the seeds i got from their buds were from that phenotype that you see above. And since they’re Mexicans, and speak broken English at best, i’m assuming that plant u see above was probably from a Mex or at least California phenotype. And therefore probably, most likely some mexican varietal.

I should try to contact them. They were just really nice to me, great neighbors to have, i’ll tell u that much. But hell ain’t seen them since 2017, and we moved away in 2018. yanno how that goes.

The weed i got from them was not that great, i will say. I can barely remember its taste or effects, so therefore, probably not that great. I really hope yours turns out great. I have about one or two hundred seeds left, which showed proven motility rate of about 20%, but that was hurried, and seeds that may have sprouted after a longer germ period, i just tossed.

Wish we were neighbors. LOL :peace_symbol:

The true landraces will vary in effect from plant to plant… at least my experiences have been so
This Oaxacan came from @Upstate
And he got it from cryptic labs
It’s looks much like your plant

here’s Lupe Lu from 2023, at about 30 days of age, grown on a south facing window sill:

remember it was a test of some 7 yr old seeds, and i pulled it after a month or two, harvested it basically, i can’t recall if i tried smoking it, probly did tho.

Did the leaves thin-out as it got bigger

Hey brother i just found the thread. I’m looking forward to seeing what you find this summer.
@3bombedmice It’s hard to tell from a picture alone but it sure looks like there’s a lot of mexican blood in there. Maybe even a pure one. Lots of times if you are the first person to run one of these traditional varieties you will have lots of inferior plants but also some very good ones. I find at least one in ten is at least very good, And sometimes even excellent.
You should run through another batch and see what you find before they are too old to germinate.

I can’t say for sure. I didn’t grow it much more than about 6 wks, and all on the window sill, so the pix show pretty much how they grew. It surely isn’t the thin leaves usually associated with a pure sativa breed. I had a friend, btw, say that it may not be pure sativa, he said pure sativa’s not as busy as the above mother plant. So i may be wrong on it’s lineage when i said it was pure. But i’d be still like 90% certain that it is from Cali and probably via Mexico from the people who gave it to me.

So I’m
Having trouble with the rain in Oklahoma
The plants are in a sheltered spot between a shed and a barn to keep th wind from blowing them over but the ridiculous rain is not helping either
Two have drowned
I have one I didn’t transfer from the jiffy cups because it was.my slower growth plant
I’m gon put in a bucket today
Hope I have six females but I’m doubting myself now

Thanks for finding my post on Lupe Lu, bro. I am not sure i have seen you much, but if you’ve read many of my posts (which are insignificantly meaningless, so why would anybody?) you’ll have seen that i say lots in here that i’m not a grower (too 'noid and too old). So it’s unlikely that i will sprout any more of the Lupe Lu seed. Good info on the idea that sometimes inferior plants will still produce a good product. I sure as hell wish i could grow, it’s been on a life long bucket list. But alas, i shall die, never having grown my own, on my own.

(One time, with a partner in 1983, we did a hydro grow with halide lights, pea gravel and a couple kiddy wading pools, that made buds but due to his abandonment of the project for about a month did not produce quality product. Nice buds, smelled, looked great, plus got you high…for about 20 minutes. )
