Guys, not a single bean popped. I will try other ones, as I still do not know if this is truly it, feel free to see my grow thread for pics. Maybe someone can really tell.

Greetings @MysteryMoog I would still like to take you up on the offer of the cut if I’m close enough to you. I sent you a pm. Blessings

Ok guys, pretty soon I’m going to get a cutting into an experts hands @Blowingupjake , and we are going to find out if this is the infamous Sour Diesel. The seeds I have did not germinate.

Let me state my qualifications LOL

I held the verified ECSD cut and the AJs Diesel(they are definitely different, but both clearly from the same line) for several runs around the time CO went rec legal. I lost the mothers quite some time ago.
I have fond memories and am 100% certain I will recognize her if she’s the real Diesel. You don’t forget a plant like that

I appreciate the opportunity Moog my friend and will be sure to treat her special.

I just truly hope that some how, against the odds, I can give something back to the community of great value :+1:

I grew the sour diesal many many years ago and would recognize that smell and taste to this day. The one I had grew long tubular nugs that were bright green with thick sticky hairs. Very unique sour candy type flavor. What would you say the differences are between the ecsd and the aj cut ? When the clones we’re readily available in the bay area there was always ecsd and nycd as two separate varieties I don’t remember which I liked more but one was vastley better but harder to grow 90% sure it was the ecsd.

I never had the aj cut but I’d say you’re correct, the ECSD was tricky to grow and not a fantastic yielder, but the quality was worth it. NYCD was never a clone only, it was a seedline by Soma so phenos were all over the place, but generally it was easier to grow, liked to make colas instead of golf balls with pyramid hats, but the flavor was more generic gas/fuel and lacked the sour flavors in my experience.

Just to give an update. I am sending @Blowingupjake cuttings on Monday. So, we should be able to get this show going :+1:.
I predict he is going to be just shocked as hell when he grows this out. :joy::rofl:
If this does turn out to be the infamous east coast sour diesel I have been growing for decades, we will get it back into circulation at some point for everyone.

So which is the closest representation of Sour D? I’d really like to get some true Sour Diesel seeds as no sd cuts going around hawaii that I know of. True Sour Diesel genetics definitely deserves a preservation run imo.

I can’t say for certain, but I’ve got three Headbangers in flower now, day 50 today. I’m not one to do stem rubs or squeeze nugs while my plants are flowering, just because smells and flavors change so much during a grow and especially after they’ve been dried and cured for three or four weeks. But since Sour Diesel is my favorite-tasting strain ever, I had to give the Headbangers a squeeze two nights ago and I gotta say, it was very, very close to real SD. They have that super-sour/funk/pine thing going on that I love. The only thing I didn’t notice was a fuel element, hoping that comes out later. Maybe once they start drying? I’ve noticed fuel smells really tend to come out when I start trimming.

The other thing I noticed was that one of them has those super-wiry pistils that I always associate with Sour Diesel. I dunno. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Shoreline has ECSD BX2 and BX3s on strainly. I grabbed some to try out.

Thanks for the heads up. I just created an account on strainly for the sole purpose of grabbing some of those haha.

I’ve noticed that some flowers really do get more gassy after dry and cure. There should be a fuel scent present during flower at some point though right?

I had 2 females from 8 beans that Karma gave me.
I fuely/gas the other no so much.
The fully one was the best.

I should’ve splurged and got some from Seedsman but had other ideas in mind.

Going a different route Doc lent me some xtra sour beans and I have Rezs sour d ibl.
Gonna see what comes of that.
