Good Sour Diesel representation

One would hope. But I’ve read that Headbanger is lacking in the fuel department and really leans more to the sour side. I dunno, this is my first time growing them. I bought three packs and only sprouted five seeds this run, so still plenty more to go through. I’ve got lots of different packs of seeds that should contain fuel-y smells, so maybe at some point I’ll take a sour-leaning Headbanger and cross it to some other fuel-y strain. Maybe. At some point…

Sounds good! Keep us posted.

just to add here…in my experience the ‘gassy’ or ‘gasoline’ smell really only develops in the gas strains when they run their full course and right at the end. and it just usually happens to be about 9 1/2 to 10 weeks in most of them.

We had a batch of thunder deisel we were trimming. We filled a jar and capped it. Someone took a whiff of the jar like an hour later. The deisel smell was so strong it burned your nose. We all passed it back around. I was happily surprised.

Yeah, the Time Bandits from my last grow didn’t smell gas-y at all during flower or even when I chopped, but once I started trimming them, after about a two week dry, they reeked of gas. It was brutal, actually haha. Had to put on a mask (luckily I’ve got plenty of those sitting around these days…) because it was making me nauseous. Unfortunately, the gas smell cured out, disappeared completely after a three week cure.

My sour deisel from this summer still has a diesel tinge after a good cure. Everyone loves it though. It doesn’t taste of it when smoked, and it’s nice and smooth.

Did you get your seeds yet? Mine showed up today, he threw in another pack, for a total of three. $150 for three packs is a pretty dang good deal. Hopefully they turn out Sour Diesel-leaning. I looked at the Shoreline thread on RIU after I ordered those seeds and wasn’t impressed. None of the plants that people posted looked very “Sour Diesel” to me. Looked way more OG-ish. Coulda just been the growers, the environment, the lights etc etc. I dunno. But I probably wouldn’t have ordered them had I seen that thread beforehand. We’ll see. Guess I gotta plant some and find out!

I got mine before xmas. Same deal, very generous on the seeds!

I think he labels his bx1 as ecsd. The outcross partner was shoreline, which is supposed to be a skunk and northern light hybrid. Maybe that’s what they were growing in the thread? BX1 often still has identifiable traits of the non backcross parent.

Yeah, there was definitely some confusion on the thread I read. Some people were growing Shoreline’s ECSD clone (which honestly didn’t look like any Sour Diesel that I’ve seen, although, again, grow environment etc), some people were growing seeds of the bx1, some were growing the bx2… I dunno. As long as it tastes like Sour Diesel, that’s all I really care about. I wonder, though, what Shoreline was selecting for, exactly.

I have grown or seen grown a lot of takes on sour diesel in seed (top dawg, hiesenbean, cali connection, karma, humboldt seed co).

The Karma Sour BX2 was by far the best. It had og nug structure on squat plants, rather than the sprawling and foxtailed Sour D clone. The sour flavor was there and close to the clone. The plants were all very uniform as well.

I’ve never grown the clone, so I’ll just be guessing from other pictures. But if it’s got the taste, I’ll be pretty happy. That part is pretty identifiable. I’m not sure I can’t really use internet pictures at this point to figure it out… what with all this new doubt on the AJ cut. Shit is all mixed up.

In fact, AJ sour d has been a popular cut in Colorado for a long time… so it’s possible that’s what I know best as sour d. :man_shrugging:

@Blowingupjake any updates about the cutting? Did arrive alright and get rooted?! I’m curious here :upside_down_face:

I have not sent it out yet to him. Between the holidays, and my sister passing away, things got a bit hectic. But we will get this going soon.

Omg, sorry to hear about your loss. Of course that’s more important, take care!

These are two Sour Diesel x Snow Lotus - run 12/12 from seed - two plants that grew themselves, no training, Nada - in fact they were neglected somewhat but having NOT grown ANY sour Diesel before i Don’t know if they are anything like S.Diesel or crosses of it,

Still finishing the two of them - waiting for amber trics. .

It’s been quite a few years since I grew a sour d but yours look pretty close. Leaves are spot on, and the buds as well. Only thing missing is the foxtails, ime with sour d, my buds never had a particular shape. They were fists, fingers, tails, anything but spherical.
