Gypsum also helps enhance flavor. Secret ingredient. Must be the sulfur doing it.
Nice! Thanks so much to learn.
Ok cuz I got the stuff already I went with subcools recipe this time and we’ll see how that plays out I’ll link it in my main grow journal Here I think in the future though I may be looking for something a little simpler I’m not sure
Idk I’ve seen that Subs recipe is a tad BIT TOO HOT!! I haven’t tried it but I use ready to use product and just add perlite!(Bumper Crop)
I agree, I don’t like how he uses a bagged soil (roots) as well.
Any thoughts on this as to just mix and use? I’ve had good results so far in veg, mixing 1/4 cups into each gallon of my promix/perlite blend. The newer package I got has instructions to mix 3Tbs into each gallon for seedlings, so I just added a hit more for a vegging plant.
Not a bad mix, I’m not a fan of cottonseed meal that is in it. Cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops because it’s not a food crop.
Ah, good to know, yea after some reading, I was hoping it had neem meal but I saw cotton instead. I believe it was put in to balance the ph, as it’s a neutral blend.
This is the recipe I went with. Instead of using any kind of roots organic for my base soil I used sunshine mix #4 and leftover soil to make up the rest.
5 days in plant seem to be doing okay not sure if the roots have got there yet though
I’ve grown in 2 gallon pots for many years without issue. They hold about a gallon and a half of dirt ! I have recently put them into liners for some reason. …lol makes watering easier now.
Here is a handy PDF I got from a great guy at Black Swallow Living soils.

Well @Gpaw that should cover it. Very nice thank you for sharing.
I’m sucking fumes already on the ‘like tank’…
You’re welcome, I hope they are useful for you.

I used so-hum for last 3 runs, and i really liked it (minus cost) just added a few dry amendments and couple teas ran fine for all 3 runs and could probably due another one. But i want to build my own so this was very helpful.
What about the urea?
What? You don’t pee on your plants?
Urea is mineral salt, correct? I’d that would what differentiate that from a “living soil”?
Edit: To each his own, I’ve heard of people doing that.
It is sterile, it is typically 11-2-4 & its free… what’s the problem?
Ok, maybe not in flower…

I was told to water it down 10x before using it on container plants to prevent burns, but if it’s in ground, just let loose around it lol.
If you have problem with urine, how about the bird/bat poop, cow manure, dried blood, or liquified fish?
